Marius
Zavian threw himself into planning and preparing, going as far as training his own body a few hours each day. He had spent the next week dealing with the battle against Greene for his crown. He had so much to work through and perfect, the witch, Lira has came to the palace twice in the span of it all to help him.
I couldn't even believe that she was technically Greene's daughter, the fact that the man had mage blood flowing through his veins probably made him hate himself as much as he hated mage enough to want them all gone. It made sense after Zavian shared the fact that Greene's family had a witch marry into his family generations ago and had apparently cursed them.
It was around then, after seeing Zavian being more himself that I was finally comfortable to visit the island but not for too long. I flew over the piece of land before landing. I would work quickly to check that no damage had come to it, ensure that it was in good shape.
The little house was without fault. I swept up the accumulated dust and fluffed out the blankets, smiling around the home I hoped Zavian would one day occupy before I took a walk around the island. I ran into various animals, snakes, deer, rabbits you name it.
As I imagined the life I wanted and hoped for here I shifted and took flight.
I didn't waste time as I had already begun to miss Zavian. I craved his presence near me more than anything. Arriving at the palace I ignored all else and scented him out. I followed the scent of calm, peace and joy, surrounding citrus.
He was in the library, humming when I entered. I paused to listen to the steady best of his heart. I slowed my pace then and watched him through the opening in shelves. His heart skipped and I smiled knowing he had sensed me.
"You decided on being creepy today." I chuckled rounding the shelf and wrapping my arms around his shoulders. He had a few books in his hands, I made out strategy as a label and sighed.
"Any chance you could spare me some attention?" I buried my fave into his check and he laughed lowly.
"Always," he lazily pushed the books into a random space and turned in my arms. "Now, what would my big teddy bear want to do with me now?" I grinned and wiggled my eyebrows, his eyes widened and he laughed nervously.
"You had to ask."
"I had to." He muttered nodding and chuckling before he reached up, wrapping his arms around my neck and forcing mine down, he licked his lips and pulled himself up to me, peeking me sweetly and then wrapping his legs around my waist he winked. "Well?"
My eyes widened and I flushed having not expected him to be so open. I chuckled and rubbed my neck while grabbing onto his thighs so he didn't fall.
"You want me to walk out of the library," he nodded, "with us like this?"
"What could go wrong?" He grinned mischievously.
"What have I created?" He threw his head back and laughed before jumping down and I shook my head, he grabbed my hand and pulled me along.
"How about a walk then?"
"But it's cold?"
"And you are my walking talking blanket." He states matter of fact and I rolled my eyes looking down at him and smiling nonetheless.
