Predictably, Daddy dear had already heard the fantastic news when I arrived home. Just great. Guess who isn't going on the traditional ember island holiday? I hate that place anyway, but still. It hurts. Not as much as a burn, but hey, one can only dream.
I sat down in my overly large bed. The red curtains that surrounded it reminded me of the honour I had lost. I don't even know how, but it's like I've been written to only think about honour somehow. Like there's someone just sitting on their bed deciding to steal a tv show character and make him really obsessed with something he was a little obsessed with in the show, but in a slightly different way.
My name is Zuko, and my life.... is kinda crazy.
I sighed, and flopped backwards on the bed. Even though it had enough space for a morbidly obese elephant-bear, I still managed to hit my head on the edge, loosing what little dignity I had maintained. Real nice.
Nursing my injured head-which, by the way, now has a large bump on it that could pass as an egg if I walked down to the kitchens- I walked over to my desk. The first step to getting my honour back is proving to my teachers and family that I deserve it.
Uncle Iroh popped into my mind. 'Zuko,' he said, his calm voice washing over me. 'You must not seek honour, but instead this delicious green tea I bought at the market yesterday. It is infused with jasmine.'
I banged my hand on my head to get rid of the vision, but instead hit the bump from earlier. Well. This day was going spectacularly.Just then, someone knocked on my door. Agni, if it was azula or father almighty fire lord I will throw something. Something being them.
I cursed under my breath as I walked to the door. The knocking became louder, more persistent.
'Calm down, I'm coming!' I yelled. Unlocking the door, I saw mai's thin facing looking up at me.'Hello, zuko.' She drawled. I tried to find a word to describe her other than depressing. I failed.
'Ah, yes, hello Mai. To what is it that I owe the pleasure of your presence?'
She made a noise that was possibly a laugh, but I have doubts (many of them) that she is capable of laughing, so I won't say for sure. 'Well, I just wanted to say that I think we should break up. I can't date someone with no honour. I'm dating Azula now instead. She's been top of the honour roll for 4 years.''Erm. Yes. Well. Isn't there rules against that sort of thing? Like... you can't just break up with me then get with my sibling?
'I doubt those rules apply to the royal siblings. Aren't you at all sad about this?' If I didn't know better, I'd say she looked hurt. But I do know better, so I won't say it.'I mean, you always ditched me. And no offence, you are kind of... depressing.' I admitted.
She puffed her chest out in agitation. 'What do you call that time I took you to the carnival? Would you call that depressing?''Yes, you stole cotton candy from little kids and bought out the entirety of a ride so no one else could use it.'
She scrunched her nose in disgust. 'Whatever. I'm leaving.' And with that she stuck her head high and walked away.
