Creds to Zoe for the title (I'll put her @ at the end of the chapter). I couldn't fit that much of the song as the title, annoyingly. The max character limit is 80, so unfortunately you can't see my whole amazing cover. I got some more ✨interesting✨ chapter titles coming soon, so keep an eye out.
Upon leaving the classroom and arriving at my locker, I realised one crucial fact: I didn't know where I was meant to meet Katara. And because this isn't some Hollywood movie where the two characters just agree to meet up and then somehow end up at the cute little cafe at the exact same time even though they never got each other phone numbers and then they get married and have 2 1/2 kids and live to a ripe old age, I couldn't even text her to ask.
After thinking about it for a good 30 seconds, I decided to just walk to the car park. We had met there this morning, it seemed like the most logical place to look.
I arrived in the car park and stood at the trees where we had been talking earlier. I was there for a while, after most of the cars were gone, but she still didn't arrive. I was just about to leave when she came walking out if the building.
'Katara! Hey!' I called over to her. She gave me a look and glanced down at her watch.
'Where were you? I said to meet in the library after school.'
No, she definitely didn't.'No, you just said "Let's have our first lesson after school" without specifying where.' I said, making air quotes with my fingers. 'I just thought to come here, since this is where we met this morning, and I don't have your number.'
She shook her head, scowling. 'I definitely remember telling you. I mean, you don't seem like the most observant person anyway, so I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't notice.'Ok, wow. A bit harsh, considering it was just a tutoring lesson. I held my hands up in defence. 'Why are you being so tough about this? We can just do this lesson now.'
She shook her head, her face softening a bit. 'I'm sorry, I'm just really worked up. This 12 year old asked me out today, which is, like, really weird.' (Suck it, Kataang shippers)
I made a face at that, wondering who did it. She kept talking.
'And, sorry, but we can't do the lesson now. I called my brother to pick me up, so he will be here soon.' Just then, a car pulled into the car park. It wasn't a bad car either, and the guy driving it looked just like Katara. She waved him over.I turned to her. 'Why don't you just come back to my place? I have my car, we can drive there and your brother can pick you up from their later, or I can drop you home?'
She nodded, smiling a little. 'Yeah, that works.' I heard loud music, the exact kind I couldn't stand, and looked next to me, where her brother was parked in his car.
'Wassup, little sis? Who's the guy?' He looked over his sunglasses at me. I was surprised it hadn't seen him before, he looked about my age, so would be at school. But it was a large school, so it was possible I just hadn't noticed him.
Katara shook her head, groaning at her brothers words. 'Sokka, this is Zuko, the guy I'm tutoring. Zuko, this is a Sokka, my, by some fluke of nature, older brother.' I gave a slight laugh at that, and turned to say hi to Sokka. He just had to ask why I was being tutored.
'Uh, well. I lost my honour, my spot on the honour roll that is, so I had to get a tutor to help me catch up on work and get back my honour roll position.' I said slightly awkwardly. He looked sympathetic, and leaned out the car awkwardly to pat my shoulder. 'Not to make it a competition, but I've never been in the honour roll, or gotten above a C+, so.' He yawned and stretched his arms. Katara rolled her eyes at him.
I didn't really know what to say, so just gave a small shrug and muttered 'That's rough buddy.'
