Hazel's eyes hadn't left the window since she'd gotten in the car. Leaving was definitely not her choice, but she'd have to live with it. Until she could convince her mom let her stay in Texas by herself.

She began subconsciously playing with the silver part of her otherwise black hair as they neared the small town of Forks. Messing with the piece of hair made her anxiety calm down momentarily.

Find something to focus on. So that's what she did, staring at the endless greenery passing by through the window, trying to spot small birds in the trees. It proved to be a lot more difficult than she thought.

"We're nearly there." Her mother, Marina pulled her from her counting. Flickering her eyes to the front, Hazel saw the small town come into view. Forks wasn't much, the sign they welcoming stated that the population was only around 3000. Leaning back against the headrest, Hazel began quietly humming to herself. "Are you alright Hun? You've been really quiet the entire trip."

"Yeah mom, I'm alright... Just a bit nervous is all." Truth be told, Hazel wasn't alright. Leaving Texas took her away from the things that brought her closest to her dad. She understood that her mom wanted to get some space between them and those memories, so they'd heal faster. But that didn't mean she'd liked it.

The dark haired woman nodded, returning her attention to the road in front of her. Marina and Hazel had never really been close. As a hardworking woman, Hazel's mom was always out of the house. Leaving her husband, Hazel's father, to take care of the girl instead of being a super nurturing mother. Times like this, when Hazel was at her quietest, made the woman realize how much she'd grown without her around.

They passed through town quickly, heading towards their new house the sat in the woods. It was a bit away from town, which meant that Hazel would need to drive to school. Or get up early enough to jog there.

Pulling up to the house, after going down what seemed to be a mile long drive, Hazel was pleasantly surprised at the quaint beauty of the house her mom had picked out.

"How in the world did you manage to afford this?" Hazel managed to breathe out as she grabbed her duffel bag from the back seat of the truck.

Pulling a box out from the back as well, her mother laughed, "I pulled some strings with your grandfather, and used the funds I'd been saving up

"And after a short while, your grandfather approached me with a house for sale waiver. He managed to haggle down the price and here we are." Ah yes, her amazing immortal grandfather. Eric was always good with people, even more so after gaining his immortality at the age of 30.

Heaving the duffel bag onto her shoulder, Hazel made her way inside. The living room was quite spacious, with a high-vaulted ceiling and warmly painted walls. It was fully set up, with couches, a big TV, and a nice fireplace. Hazel was tempted to collapse on the soft looking sofa, but held herself back. "I'm gonna head up to my room!" Calling back to her mother as she made her way up the winding stairs.
