Today was one of the very few days in Washington where the sun was shining brightly. So, Hazel knew as she walked into school that the Cullens wouldn't be around today. Despite this, she was quite happy. She enjoyed the sunlight, aside from the fact that it got warmer. Heat was not her cup of tea.
"Haze! How was your weekend?" A head of bright red hair bounded up to the distracted girl. Hazel nearly jumped out of her skin when she finally noticed Madeline standing by her side.
A smile crossed her face as she pulled her books out of her locker. "It was pretty good, how was yours?"
"It was pretty amazing. I have some major news to tell you." The red-head's eyes were filled with an rather interesting emotion, but Hazel couldn't quite pinpoint what it was.
"And what's that Mads?"
"I've heard from down the grapevine that, someone is planning on asking you to prom today." Hazel nearly dropped her books, who in the world would want to ask her to prom? Jasper wasn't at school, so it obviously couldn't be him.
"Really? Do you know who?"
"That'd ruin the surprise Haze. I swear you have no flare for dramatics." Madeline groaned, while the ebonette merely shrugged.
With a slam of her locker, Hazel turned to look at the brown-eyed girl. "I don't like surprises Mads. And I'll tell you this now, I more than likely won't be saying yes to whoever asks me to prom. I have no interest in going, so you may as well tell me who plans on asking me. So I can turn them down before they embarrass themselves in front of anyone."
"You're so cold Hazel. But I guess I understand, you've only got your eyes set on one person. Am I right?" A bright blush erupted on Hazel's face, and she turned away from her friend.
"I need to get to class Mads. I'll see you later." The bright red girl practically dashed off as Madeline laughed and shook her head. Hazel decided she'd sit with Bella at lunch to avoid the scrutiny of the red-head as best she could.

Bella's friends were just as weird as Hazel's. She didn't mind of course, because she loved weird people. "If you're looking for the Cullens, they're not here. Their parents pull them out whenever the weathers nice to take them camping. I tried that with my parents once, not even close." Jessica commented, basking in the brightness of the sunlight. Hazel and Bella exchanged a knowing look, before shrugging.
"That's nice of Dr. Cullen. It would be great to get out of class." Hazel really didn't mind school, it just got really boring sometimes. Especially without the group of immortal beings she'd befriended.
"Oh trust me, everyone here feels the same." It was then that Jessica opened her eyes and looked Hazel over. "You're the girl that hangs out with them all the time right? The name was... Holly?"
Hazel sighed, taking a seat at the table. "My name is Hazel. I have other personality traits other then 'The Girl That Hangs Out With The Cullens', just saying."
Bella just sat there watching as her cousin began to get slightly irritated with Jessica. "All I'm saying, is that it's weird. Especially since you hang around Jasper so much. I mean, he looks like he's in pain. How do you cope?"
A slamming noise startled Jessica, as she noticed Hazel had punched the table. "You don't know a thing about him. So, I suggest you shut your prissy trap before I do it for you." Growling, Hazel stood from the table and took her lunch inside to finish eating.
Jessica just laughed awkwardly and looked at Bella. "What's her problem?" Bella merely shook her head and watched as her cousin stormed inside.
Madeline was all too happy to see Hazel sit her food next to her, and she quickly sparked a conversation with the girl to calm her down. After a few minutes, Hazel was no longer fuming, but still very irritated.
