Graduation.
I managed to survive high school.
Kat and I were still together.
Jake was in prison for five years, but I didn't care how long it was. As long as he was away from me, I was happy.
"Congratulations to the graduation class of 2014. May all of you strive to become someone important," Mr. Lee smiled as he said the closing words.
Kat ran over to me, "We did it!" She took my hands and smiled.
"I almost can't believe we graduated!"
"Congratulations, sweetie!" My mother and father pushed their way through the crowd.
Kat's parents joined us a few moments later.
"You two look beautiful in your graduation gowns," Kat's mom gushed.
"Let's get out of this crowd my mom yelled.
We pushed and shoved out way out of the crowd and went to the parking lot.
"Sam, wait," Kat stopped me.
I watched the expression on our parents' faces change from joy to excitement.
"Yes, Kat?"
She got down on one knee and looked me in the eyes.
"Samantha Nichole Hayden, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
I stared at her wordlessly. I honestly didn't know what to say.
"Yes."
Well, maybe I did know what to say.
She pulled a small black box out of her pocket.
Inside of it was a small gold band with a diamond on top.
Kat stood up ad took the ring out of the box.
She grinned widely and slid the ring onto my finger.
Our moms became very excited when we turned to face them.
"She said yes!"
Our moms turned into teenage girls by jumping up and down excitedly.
"We have to go out and celebrate," my dad said.
"We were going to do that anyways because it's the girls' graduation day," Kat's dad said.
We went out and had Olive Garden as a graduation/engagement celebration dinner.
After dinner, Kat drove us back to our apartment.
Yes, we had an apartment.
We had been living together for about a month.
Normal kids would go out and party after graduation. We changed into out pajamas and chilled on the couch.
I silently played with the bracelet that still hung from my wrist.
I took it off and smiled because I knew it was time.
I sat up and turned towards Kat.
I held out the bracelet to her.
She stared at it shocked. "Are you sure you're ready?"
"Today proved that you really cared about me. If anyone deserves to wear this, it's you."
She took the bracelet and slid it on her wrist and moved closer to me. "Hold still."
She took my face in her hands and leaned in close.
Our noses were almost touching.
I closed my eyes and breather in her scent.
Her lips touched mine and instantly sparked went through my entire being.
Our lips moved together slowly.
I pulled out of her grasp and smiled.
"That was totally worth the wait," Kat said breathlessly.
That night, we made love in a way that only two people who were truly in love could.
