*Y/N's POV*
"O-nii-chan," I cooed in Tobio's ear while poking his face repeatedly.
"ONIICHAN! Wake up!" I yelled, now shaking him vigorously.
"Nee-Chan?" He shook awake drowsily. To be fair, we both had a rough night. I woke him up with my cries at 2am. Then we didn't go back to bed until well pst 4am... my bad.
"We're gonna be late Tobio. Go get ready," I pestered him.
"Alright, alright," he mumbled and groggily rolled out of bed, falling to the floor. I grimaced knowing his lack of sleep was my doing.
When we both finished getting ready, I was about to walk out the door, but then I saw a banana hurdling towards my head, followed by a granola bar.
"Oh fu-," I started.
"Y/n!" He yelled in a warning tone. "You need your energy."
I let out a frustrated grumble, but in reality I was grateful. I was actually in the mood to eat breakfast this morning.
When we arrived at school, we immediately ran into a beloved teammate as we entered the hallways.
"Kageyamas! Wow, you two look like shit. What the hell happened?" Tanaka asked intrigued.
At that moment, Noya joined us as well, "Woah... what happened to you two. Did you even get an ounce of sleep?"
"OKAY WE GET IT!" I practically yelled, turning the heads of a few bystanders. Embarrassed, my cheeks turned pink and I turned my head away to let Tobio speak instead.
"We were disturbed by, uh, some loud commotion in the middle of the night," Tobio explained, thankfully leaving out all the details involving you.
"Anyways, we should head to class before it gets late," I stated, starting to walk ahead with Tobio, leaving the two confused boys behind. A quick thought crossed my mind and I spun on my heels to face Noya. "Hey, you. Come eat lunch with me today, okay?" I gave him a closed eye smile.
"Y-yeah. Sure. See you later," he stuttered out.
*Noya's POV*
I waited outside Y/N's classroom, leaning against the wall with my arms crossed and one foot planted on the wall behind me. I was surprised she wanted to have lunch with me, but hey, I'm not complaining.
My thoughts were suddenly interrupted, "NOY-YAAAAAA!" Y/N dashed out of her classroom to engulf me in a hug, which I happily returned.
"Wanna eat outside? It's a nice day," she smiled, beaming at me and grabbed both my hands in hers. She's holding my hands! Eeeeeeee
"Here, I think I know a pretty good spot where we can sit," I informed her. With that, I let go of one of her hands. Still holding the other, I lead her to a small courtyard-like area with a bench surrounded by various flowers and trees.
"Ooooh pretty!" She exclaimed, her eyes sparkling in the sunlight.
"Just like you..." I whispered under my breath.
"Hmm? Did you say something Noya?" she asked.
Ignoring her question completely, I lead her to the bench. We sat down and pulled out our respective bento boxes. Stuffing an apple slice in her mouth, Y/N spoke, "Oh Noya! Be proud of me! I ate breakfast this morning! And see? I'm having lunch too!" Although she acted cheerful, I could tell she looked a little uncomfortable. It must be difficult for her to revert from a mindset with a negative view on food to a positive view.
To validate her, I gave her a small squeeze and tousled her hair, "Awe, I am so proud of you," I squealed at how adorable she is. At my words, she seemed to perk up, actually looking proud of her accomplishment.
Then I was reminded me of this morning. "Oh hey, by the way, what did happen last night?"
As I asked that question, she almost choked on her apple slice. I watched as she painfully swallowed the bite and coughed a bit from the reflux. She let out a sigh, "I guess you deserve to know," she spoke quietly. After another moment of silence, her voice rang through the air again, "I had a reason for overreacting during the incident at Nekoma. This'll explain why I dropped to the floor, trembling, over something so trivial."
Intrigued, yet worried with what she had to confess, I came to find that the twins rough night was caused by Y/N's nightmare. I listened intently as she explained the story about Yuki, the boy she had a crush on. How Oikawa came in and saved her, just like how I had with the boy on the Nekoma team. And how she's terrified of trusting people. But coming to Karasuno, changed her perspective. Now, slowly, but surely, she's learning to trust and be vulnerable again.
"Ever since then, I've been afraid of getting close to people... but I trust all of you. I'm so grateful to have you in my life," her voice hitched at the end as she struggled to hold back tears.
I smiled at her gorgeous face. If she trusts me, then maybe, just maybe, I have a chance. I took a deep breath in, "Y/N, wanna hang out together on Saturday?"
Surprised by my question, she answered, "Just the two of us?"
With a nervous giggled I replied, "Yeah, that's what I was hoping for."
"Good. This better be a date," she spoke so confidentially that she caused my jaw to drop straight to the floor.
*Time Skip to Saturday*
(Y/N's POV)"Tobio! You have to help me!" I cried out. "What am I supposed to wear?"
My room was a disaster. Usually I kept all my possessions in an orderly, tidy fashion, but now, clothes were scattered across the floor, torn from my closet. I was frantic. Noya would be here to pick me up any minute now.
Tobio calmly walked through the doorway of my room, carefully stepping around the miscellanies clothes tossed about. Still not saying said a word to me, he walked straight to the closest, shuffled through the hangers, and plucked one out. When he turned around, I saw him holding up a cute black romper that I bought when I traveled to London once for a competition.
He tossed the outfit at me and walked out of the room. "Put this on," he stated monotonously.
Wow. He actually chose a decent outfit. This might just work.
Just as I finished changing, I heard the doorbell ring from downstairs. "I got it!" I screeched and hurried to the stairs, tripping over my feet while trying to put on a pair of sandals.
Skidding across the hardwood floor, I opened the front door to reveal an incredibly adorable looking Noya. Though, he's always adorable.
"Noya? You left your hair down?" I could barely contain my excitement. That's why he looked extra cute today. He was dressed pretty casually in a pair of nice black shorts and a white T-shirt with a pocket.
"I left it down because I remembered that you thought it was cute," his cheeks flushed pink as he looked away from me. "You know... back at the training camp."
I stepped closer to him and shut the door behind me. "You're right." I kissed him on the cheek. "It's fricken adorable."
All he did was gently touch his cheek where I kissed him and giggled nervously.
I tilted my head to the side, "So where we going?" I asked curiously.
"Let's get walking and you'll find out," he winked at me flirtatiously and took my hand in his.
Now that we have everything clarified, I wonder where he's taking me.
