*Y/N's POV*
It's been a week since the training camp now. There's not much time left before we go back for another training camp in Tokyo, but all the boys are working hard to improve and make their mark when we play the Tokyo teams again. This means lots of staying after practice so the boys can work on their specific techniques.
Today, Tobio is working on setting the ball with a different trajectory. Instead of passing right through the path of the spiker, arcing the ball, he is now letting the ball hesitate at its maximum height, the point of contact, and letting drop straight down.
In other words, this would mean staying after even later than the already late practice. Since him and Hinata aren't talking, my only option is to toss the balls for him to set, which is what we've been doing the last few days. However, much to my surprise, my day was saved just for today.
"Hey Y/N, how bout I take you home today?" my adorable boyfriend, Yuu, questioned.
"I mean that'd be nice, but who's gonna toss for Tobio?" I asked confused, cocking my head to one side.
"Tanaka was kind enough to agree. And if there are any, uh, issues between Hinata and your brother, he can break up the fight," Yuu explained.
"Okay then, thanks! Let me just grab my bag and we can go," I responded.
We silently walked out of the gym side by side, until I broke the silence, "I feel bad that you had to walk me home. You live in the other direction. Plus, I wish my brother would trust me more now to walk home by myself." I paused, "Not that I don't love coming to your practices, but you know what I mean. Just more independence I guess, right?"
"Okay okay okay," Yuu rambled. "First, I don't mind a walking you home. At all. I get to spend more time with you this way. Second, you're brother trusts you. He let you walk home with your new boyfriend. That's pretty trustworthy right there. He's just worried for you and would never want anything bad to happen to you."
"You're right," I said solemnly and shaking my head reluctantly in approval.
Just as we got to my front step, I spoke up again, "Do you wanna stay for a little bit to rest? You had a long practice today."
"Sure! If you don't mind having me over of course," he smiled brightly at me with that adorable little closed eye smile.
However, when I opened the front door to my house, I was shocked to see my mother standing in the kitchen. "M-mom?" I stuttered out. "W-what are you doing home so early?"
At the sound of my voice she whipped around, but then smiled innocently when she saw I had a friend with me. "Hello dear, how was school today? And who's your friend you brought with you? Didn't realize you made new friends," her smile turned into a smirk. 1) typical mother dodging my questions like always 2) implying I have no friends... brutal attack.
"Hi, I'm Nishinoya Yuu," my boyfriend spoke, sticking out his hand for my mother to shake. "Nice to meet you," he smiled politely.
My mother took his hand and responded, "Nice to meet you too. You're quite a handsome boy." This comment caused Yuu's cheeks to blush over.
"Uh, t-thank you ma'am," he managed to stammer out. I just rolled my eyes at my mother.
"Oh!" My mother shouted like she remembered something. "Do you kids want any snacks? I just finished making some pork buns," she informed us.
I quickly headed to the kitchen grabbed a few, took Yuu's hand, and dragged him to my room. As we headed upstairs, Yuu called out, "Thank you for the food!"
I tugged my boyfriend into my room, shut the door behind us, and let out an exasperated sigh. "You're mom seems nice..." Yuu stated.
I scoffed, "Tch. She's just like that when I have friends over. Wait till you really meet her evil side or should I say her typical self." I rolled my eyes yet again.
Yuu shrugged and looked around my room, "So. Whatchu wanna do?" he asked nonchalantly.
"Maybe you can pick out a movie? I need to freshen up for bed." Aka skin care routine, brush my teeth, and pajamas. "Oh, and have the pork buns while I'm gone. You had a strenuous practice today," I said to him.
"Yes ma'am," he saluted me, already stuffing the food in his mouth.
*Noya's POV*
I ate, no, inhaled the pork buns while Y/N was gone. I plopped down on the edge of Y/N's plushy, soft bed and examined her small room. I found it cute that she had the stuffed lion I bought her at the zoo flopped on her bed.
As my eyes wandered, they landed on a sparkly, velvety blue notebook on the nightstand next to her bed. I shouldn't look, but just a peek wouldn't hurt...
I flipped the book open to a random page. It was an older entry, but as my eyes scanned the words written on the page, I felt my heart race. Wide eyed and panicked, I quickly shut the book with a loud smack and placed it back on the nightstand where I found it. I placed a hand over my rapidly beating heart and took in a deep breath to calm myself down.
I know I shouldn't have read the journal, but what I just read, I can't believe she went through something like that. It just shows how far she's come in life. That smile she puts on everyday, her joyous, energetic attitude, it's amazing she was able to reach that point. My girlfriend truly is strong and amazing.
My thoughts were interrupted by Y/N entering the room. "Pick out a good movie?" She paused when she saw my face. "Everything okay?" She asked concerned, making her way over and sitting down at the bed next to me. Worry filled her eyes as she awaited my response.
As I sat there, still not saying a word, I searched her for answers, wishing I could've understood or knew more about her past. But the answers I looked for weren't there as Y/N continued to sit in front of me with her black Karasuno jacket, blinking her eyes away, confused as hell.
Come to think of it. She always wore jackets. I mean because she doesn't eat much, she's probably cold more often, so it's probably just that... right? Well, I did see her once in a tank top once, but it was in the dimly lit hallways of the training camp that one night I ran into her after our showers. Regardless, I need to observe more. I have so many questions that I can't even ask her.
Avoiding confrontation, I decided to say instead, "I picked out a movie. You ready to watch?"
She just stared at me blankly, but reluctantly agreed, deciding not to press on.
I need answers. But for now this will have to stay a secret.
