Chapter 7 - Heartbreak Hill
(L/N) (F/N) POV
I opened Kageyama's message in the morning. 'Sorry didn't see that until now,' I replied. Hinata and I biked to school. My legs actually didn't feel that tired today. Last night, Yachi made a chat for the managers. Kiyoko had texted me and Yachi to bring clothes for running. She didn't say why, but if I have to run, I'm down for that. I like running. When I first started doing it in my free time, I hated it, but after a while of forcing myself to do it, running became fun. I was excited through all of my classes. Finally, the end of the day came.
I ran down the hallway to Hinata's class. He was the first one out of the classroom.
"Hey, Shōyō! How was your day?"
"Fine. How was yours? You seem really happy!"
"Eh. It was alright. I'm just really excited for practice today!"
"Why?"
"Because of the thing!"
"What thing?"
"I don't know what it is. But Kiyoko told me to bring running clothes."
"Oh. Why?"
"I don't know yet. She didn't say. But whatever it is, I'm excited!"
We arrived at the gym. Hinata skipped to the club room to go change. I walked inside.
"Hello, Kiyoko."
"Hi, (Y/N). Did you bring running clothes?"
"Yes, should I go change in the locker room?'
"Sure. I think that's where Yachi is right now."
I left the gym and went to the girl's locker room. Finding a spot behind a section of lockers, I began to change.
"Hello? Is there somebody else in here?" A nervous voice came from the other side.
"Yeah! Sorry about that, it's just me, (F/N). I'm changing."
"Oh! Sorry, when I heard you come in and not say anything, I got scared because I didn't know who it was."
I laughed. "It's fine." I finished and walked over to join her in front of the mirrors at the sink. She was putting her hair into a medium-high ponytail. I bent down at the waist and flipped my hair over my head. Brushing it into a high ponytail, I secured it with the black hair elastic on my wrist. She put hers in a blue scrunchie. I walked back over to my bag, pulling out a black scrunchie and fixing it in my hair. She walked over to join me.
"Ready to go, (Y/N)?"
"Yep!" We left. On the way back, I turned to her. "You know, you can call me (F/N) if you want. I know it's pretty soon to be called by a first name, so you don't have to call me that if you don't want to, but I personally prefer it. I always get called by my given name in America and Korea, so I'm used to it."
"Oh, okay!"
I pushed open the doors. The boys were all gathered in a circle around Daichi and Kiyoko. She motioned for us to come over.
"So everyone," Daichi began. "Today we will be sprinting up Miyagi's very-own, infamous Heartbreak Hill." Everyone groaned. "Oh, come on, it's not that bad. We'll be racing in groups of two, so grab a partner and let's go!" The circle dispersed.
"Who will I be running against?" I asked Kiyoko.
"You, Yachi, and I will go in a group of three. Sound good?"
