Chapter 17

Rey, Finn, and Alinah arrived at the junction box. They parked their speeder and ran towards it. Rey opened up the service hatch and looked inside, remembering the parts she studied back on Jakku.

She reached in and grabbed one of the parts, yanking it out. Rey grinned at Finn and Alinah, who grinned back. She threw the part to the ground and the three of them ran back to their speeder. They then took off as fast as they could to get to the oscillator.

Han, Padmé, and Chewie were waiting outside of the oscillator. The hatch door opened and the three of them saw their entrance. They got their weapons ready as they exchanged looks, knowing that the others succeeded in their part of the plan.

"Huh," Han commented. "Girl knows her stuff."

The three walked inside the oscillator, and looked around. No one was inside, so that made them relieved. But they knew that they would have to be quick with their plan. Chewie handed Han and Padmé some explosives as they discussed their plan.

Chewie roared to them and Han nodded. "You're right. That's a better idea," he told him. "You take the top, Padmé and I go below."

Chewie nodded and handed Padmé a detonator. "We'll meet up with you back here when you're done," she told the Wookiee.

They nodded and separated from each other. On top, Chewie placed explosives on poles and underneath bridges. Below, Padmé and Han placed their explosives and moved onto other platforms.

Padmé then sensed something nearby. A chill ran up her spine, so she knew that it wasn't good. She knew it was Kylo Ren, but she didn't say anything. She just hoped that Kylo Ren didn't sense her nearby, or else their plan would be doomed.

Kylo Ren walked inside of the oscillator with some Stormtroopers behind him. He froze as he walked in, sensing something. He could feel that Padmé Solo was close. Their connection was deep enough for him to sense her and Han's location.

"Find them," Kylo Ren ordered the Stormtroopers. They nodded and went their separate paths to find the intruders. Chewie noticed the troops and quietly placed another explosive, hoping that they wouldn't see him or his friends.

The others arrived outside of the oscillator. They jumped out of their speeder as Rey looked up at the sky. She could see that the sun was almost gone. She looked at the others with worry, hoping that their plan could help the pilots destroy the base.

"It'll work," Finn reassured her. "I know it."

Rey nodded at him and they ran towards a ladder. Alinah went up first, followed by Finn and then Rey. They moved quickly and quietly so no troops could hear them.

As Han placed his last explosive, he turned to see Kylo Ren walking past him. He concealed himself behind a pillar as he watched him go. Padmé took notice and hid behind her father. Even though he didn't have the Force, Han could sense that his daughter was scared.

Han looked at Kylo Ren, who was starting to walk out onto a catwalk. He then looked over at Padmé and took her hand. He squeezed it gently as a way to reassure her that everything will be okay. Padmé have her father a weak smile then looked at Kylo Ren.

Father and daughter took a deep breath and stepped out, hand in hand. They followed Kylo Ren and stopped behind him, not stepping out onto the catwalk just yet. It was now or never.

"BEN!" Han shouted, causing for Kylo Ren to freeze in place. Chewie heard his friend and looked over the railing, seeing him and Padmé by the catwalk. The Stormtroopers all had their weapons out, ready to shoot if needed.
