Inside the base, the Resistance members began setting up their communications. That way they could send a distress signal to their allies. They also set up the desks in order to manage what was going on outside. Some officers worked on getting the shields up so the First Order couldn't get inside. They knew that they would be coming, but they wouldn't go down without a fight.

"Alright, our shields are up so they can't hit us from orbit," Poe said as he walked into the room. He walked up to the desk that Kaydel and Finn were at. "Use whatever power we've got left to broadcast a distress signal to the Outer Rim," he ordered them.

"Got it," Kaydel replied with a nod.

"Use my personal code," Leia added from where she was. "If there are any allies to the Resistance... it's now or never."

Poe nodded and turned to see Rose, Alinah, and some pilots come in. "Rose, Alinah, what do you got?" He asked them.

"Rotting munitions, rusted artillery, some half-gutted skim speeders," Rose informed him from her search.

"We'd be lucky to even fly those things," Alinah added, folding her arms over her chest. "They look really beaten up."

Poe shook his head. "Well, let's just pray that big-ass door holds long enough for us to get help," he said, looking away from his friends. All they could do now was pray that they would survive. He couldn't let any sacrifices that day be in vain. It would kill him if that happened.

"And let's hope that Rey and Padmè can find us," Finn said under his breath. He couldn't help but feel worried for them after the Supremacy was sliced through by the Raddus. All he could do was hope they were okay. He didn't feel their deaths, so he had to assume that they were looking for them.

Finn needed Rey to come back to him.

The ground suddenly shook as some rocks fell from the ceiling. The Crystal wolves started barking and whimpering at the noise, which only made the Resistance worried. Finn, Poe, Alinah, and Rose ran to see what was going on while other crew members followed. Finn grabbed some macrobinoculars and looked outside.

His eyes widened when he saw what was approaching. It seemed as if the entire First Order was outside the door. AT-M6's were stomping towards them while TIE Fighters were flying in the sky. Finn also noticed something being dragged through the salt. He immediately knew what it was and got more worried.

"A battering ram cannon," Finn informed everyone as he lowered the binoculars.

"Oh no," Alinah muttered under her breath.

"A what now?" Poe asked, confused.

"Miniaturized Death Star tech." Finn explained. "It'll crack that door open like an egg."

Rose turned to Poe, growing even more worried. "There has to be a back way out of here, right?" She asked him.

"She's right," Alinah said. "There's no way that the door is the only entrance point."

That was when Poe saw BB-8 and C-3PO arrive to them. "BB-8, what do you got?" He asked his droid.

After BB-8 said a few beeps, C-3PO translated for him. "BB-8 has analyzed the mine's schematics. This is the only way in or out," he informed them, referring to the large door.

The cannon could be heard moving from outside. Everyone exchanged looks, scared of what was to come. Even Poe looked worried, wishing that there was some way for them to escape. He didn't know if the Resistance could lose anyone else.

Finn noticed everyone's anxious expressions as he pressed his lips together. "Come on. We have allies. People believe in Leia," he said, causing for everyone to look over at him. "And they believe in the Jedi. They'll get our message, they'll come. But we have to buy time. We have to take out that cannon."
