Chapter 3:
Ahsoka POV:
I open the door with caution but am relieved when I see my best friends, Padme and Aayla.
I let them in before hugging them.
"So how's are little niece?" They both ask at the same time when we break apart.
"Well, how about y'all take a look at her yourselves?" I say with a huge smile.
I turn and motion them to follow me. When we reach Ruby's room, I open the door, and there she is, still deeply asleep.
They walk over to her crib and both gasp. I smirk.
"She's adorable," Padme says.
"Gorgeous, like her mother," Aayla says.
I smile and they come over and hug me.
"What's her name?" Aayla asks when we break apart.
"Ruby." I grin.
"Ruby!"
"She's sleeping," I roll my eyes but have a smile on my face.
We walk back downstairs and have a long chat.
"I'm really sorry I wasn't there with you Ahsoka at the hospital," Padme starts saying. "I just had a family event I had to go to. My brother just got back in town. He's been living on Tatooine for four years. He left when he was 18 and now he's 22."
"It's fine, I understand and besides I had my mom with me," I say honestly with a reassuring smile. Then curiously I ask, "So what was your brother doing all the time on Tatooine?"
"Well, he was helping the poor, like building houses, giving clothes & food out, and freeing people from slavery. He was once a slave on Tatooine after his biological mother died. My father went to Tatooine to explore. He saw Anakin and freed him. My parents adopted him and well now he's the best brother!" she says with a smile.
"Wow, I adore him," Aayla replies and places a hand over her heart. "Is he single..?" she asks with a grin.
"Don't get too ahead of yourself," Padme answers but laughs.
"He seems like a great person...." I reply but my voice shows uncertainty. I hated meeting new people. I don't trust easily which is because of the stuff I've been through. But I also hated judging because I wouldn't want others to judge me.
Padme looks over at her eyes soften.
"Ahsoka, I promise you, he's no threat."
That's what I believed.
Sensing my inner conflict, Padme grabs my hands and looks deep into my eyes.
"I promise."
Her facial expression is serious and the look in her eyes makes me believe her.
Stop judging people.
"I believe you."
Padme's face relaxes and smiles.
"We should meet him," Aayla says.
Padme's face lightens up with excitement.
"I can arrange something for y'all can meet him. How about next week at noon, we can have lunch together!"
Aayla replies fast. "Yes, sounds great!"
When I don't reply she turns to look at me.
"How about you, Ahsoka?"
I look down and fidget with my fingers.
Should I?
I've never met him but from what Padme has said about him, he seems to be nice. It's just one meeting. One. After that nothing. It's not like I'll be keeping in contact with him.
I should get to know him, he is my best friend's brother.
I look up before answering. "I'll go."
Padme and Aayla grin.
"Perfect," Padme starts saying. "We'll meet at my apartment at noon for lunch."
We talked for a while but soon you could hear a cry from Ruby's room.
I kiss goodbye to my friends and then walk upstairs to take care of Ruby.
I pick her up and rock her back to sleep.
