Chapter 9

Chapter 9:

Ahsoka POV:

I wake up and check the clock, 8:23 it reads. I try to go back to sleep. 

Failure. Well, I'll just lay here for a while, it doesn't seem Ruby is awake.

I get up unable to just lay down and go wash my face. Might as well get started with the day. I hear Ruby cry and I rush to her room.

I pick her up when I get in her room. Ruby's cries fill the room. I go downstairs, with her still in my arms. I lay her down, with some blankets around her.

When I leave her, she starts crying harder.

I quickly get her milk and then go over and start feeding her. She calms down when she finishes her bottle.

Her big blue eyes look into mine.

"You have my eyes," I tell her. Ruby has a mark on her neck. On her orange skin, a white mark is on her neck. It's not really a shape, just a splotch. But it's small.

Ruby moves a bit in my arms and I smile. She's so tiny and I love her. I kiss her forehead and her eyes close.

I rock her and soon she's sleeping. I go to my room and place her in the small bed I have for her in there. I kiss her again before walking back downstairs.

I go to the kitchen because I'm hungry. I end up making some waffles. I finish and then watch a bit of tv. However, it quickly makes me bored and I sigh. What to do?

Maybe I should take a nap? Yes, a nap it is.

I walk to my room and lay down on my bed. Ruby is swaddled and sleeping.

I close my eyes and sleep takes over me, unlike earlier. 

I awake when I hear Ruby. She's crying. Again.

I rub my eyes and then go over to her. That's when I realize why she's crying. I need to change her. I change her quickly and then lay her down next to me.

She doesn't seem to want to sleep more, so we just lay there.

I sing the same songs Mom would sing to me. Ruby's lips seem to curl up once in a while.

After a while, I decide to feed her again. We go downstairs and I get her bottle, before filling it with the milk.

I feed her and she seems to enjoy my decision. When she's done, I swaddle her and she closes her eyes. This time, I bring her to her room. I place her in her crib and I just sit near her.

I enjoy the quietness but then I hear a knock on the door.

Anakin POV:

The phone rings and I go answer it. It's a boring day. Nothing exciting 

"Hello," I say into the phone.

"Hey!" Padme's cheerful voice brings a smile to my face. Padme always has a positive attitude and deserves happiness.

"I have a good idea," she starts saying. "So, I thought, since Obi-Wan and Rex are coming soon, we should go on a vacation."

"That's a nice idea," I say. "But where?"

Padme chuckles and I can hear the grin in her answer. "A secret."

"Of course, it's a secret." I'm not surprised since she loves surprises. 

Unfazed by my answers she continues on. "So are you agreeing or what?" she asks. 

"It's not like I have a choice," I say because it's true. She'll drag me there if it was up to her.

"You really don't have a choice," she says with a laugh. "But great! Well, I'm going to tell Ahsoka and Aayla about it. You can tell Obi-Wan and Rex about it."

"Wait!" I say at the mention of Ahsoka.

"Yeah?" she asks and I can hear her concern.

I clear my throat before talking. "I can...tell Ahsoka myself."

Padme stays quiet before answering. "Sure," she says slowly with confusion, "I guess." Knowing Padme she'll want to know why so I'm not surprised when she asks a question.

"What was going on when I walked in on y'all two?" she asks referring to the time I first saw Ruby.

"We were talking," I answer simply. True but there was something else going on. I felt something and I know she felt it too. 

"That close?" she asks.

"I guess."

"Okay...well the vacation is in two weeks, so be ready. Bye!"

"Bye."

She hangs up and I look around the room. It has three rooms, but they're small. The kitchen and the living room are connected. The kitchen is small but it's fine.

Obi-Wan and Rex are going to be living here with me when they come back.

Since I'm bored, why not go tell Ahsoka now? 

I change and then leave the room. I go to my speeder and drive to her house.

I arrive and then knock on her door.

☆ So basically this chapter was just about Ruby and Ahsoka bonding. To have a better mother and daughter relationship. I felt like I haven't written them two together as much I would like. And as always hope you enjoyed
