"Love, I don't see the problem, why do you need to text him? He knows you're out, right?" She held the phone in her hands shakily, trying to think of a proper response that wouldn't make him even madder.
"You don't get it, he's very... caring and protective. He's probably really worried right now." Lucifer knit his eyebrows together, not fully buying the story she was giving. He grabbed her phone from her hands and placed it in his back pocket.
"No! Lucifer! Give it back! I need to answer him!" Ariel panicked, reaching for her phone. Lucifer shook his head no and chuckled, taking another long sip from his drink.
"Ariel, you need to let loose! You're at a club for dad's sake, talking with me," he pointed to himself and grew a cocky smirk, "I mean, that's got to help take the edge off, hm?"
She looked around the room quickly, de-tensing. All she needed to do was relax, just like Lucifer had said.
"Yeah, you're right, I just need to calm down is all." She took a deep breath in and exhaled dramatically. The devil checked his watch, throwing his arm back around the top of the booth. Lux had slowly filed out and there weren't nearly as many people there compared to when Ariel first entered.
"What time is it? I'd like to get home before the morning arrives." Lucifer let out a chuckle and shook his head, opening his mouth.
"Love, it's two in the morning," Ariel's eyes widened and she looked around the club, throwing her head back on the top of the booth. Or what she thought was the top of the booth. She could feel the fabric of Lucifer's overcoat on her head.
"I work tomorrow, at seven. I'm gonna be a mess!" Normally, Lucifer would roll his eyes at human problems, but he felt sympathy for her. "And I don't even know where my friend is. For all I know, she left."
"Let me drive you home then. I can do it right now if you'd like. I'd just have to let Maze know." She smiled and agreed immediately. They both got up, and Lucifer offered her his arm. She hesitantly wrapped hers around his and he guided her through the bar.
"Mazikeen!" Lucifer shouted and the mocha-skinned bartender turned around. She stifled a laugh when she saw who was wrapped around his arm.
"I'm giving this lovely lady a ride home, take care of the place while I'm gone." He ordered, only causing the demon to nod. They both proceeded to walk out of the club. He guided her through the full parking lot, walking towards a fancy looking car.
"Holy shit! What is this?" Ariel examined the car, trying to find the logo. Lucifer was amused by this.
"It's a nineteen fifty-eight Corvette, darling. This baby was one of my first purchases when I came to Earth." She knit her eyebrows, trying to make sense of what he said. Lucifer opened the door for her and waited for her to be seated, before closing it and running towards his side.
"Alright, love, where do you live?" Lucifer asked, starting the car. The engine roared, causing him to smirk.
"I'm across town, by the- you know what? Just drive, I'll let you know when to turn and whatnot." She shrugged, letting her head rest on the head of the seat. Lucifer turned the radio down before slowly driving out of the parking lot.
"You said across town? I'll take the freeway and then you'll guide me. Sound good?" Ariel agreed and Lucifer made his way to the exit, accelerating his speed once he was permitted.
"So, I just gotta ask," Lucifer quickly glanced at Ariel, who was looking at him now. "what made you wanna take on the devil persona?"
Lucifer sighed, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel as he answered Ariel. "I never took it on. I was given it, by my Father. I rebelled against him so dear old dad decided to banish me out of Heaven and crown me the ruler of Hell."
