Clary's pov

The rest of the week flew by and before I knew it, it was Friday. Simon and I had really hit it off and we were basically best friends. Currently, I was sitting English and Jace could not stop tapping his pencil on his desk, and it was driving me crazy.

"Can you stop?" I whispered to him.

Jace turned and smirked at me. "Does that bother you Red?"

"My names Clary, and yes it bothers me." I say

"In that case, I'll keep doing it." Then smiled at me mockingly and tapped the pencil on his desk even louder.

I turned to face the chalkboard again, and took an annoyed breath. After ten more minutes of the tapping I was about to lose it. Mr. Thompson had noticed the tapping.

"Jace, could you please stop that tapping sound." He said

"Nope." Jace replied simply.

"Why not." Mr. Thompson said exasperated.

"Because Clary doesn't like it, so I have to do it." He says and I hear the class snicker. He actually called me Clary.

I felt heat rush to my face, and I probably turned as red as my hair.

"Well instead of bothering her, I suggest you pay attention to the board." Mr. Thompson said and he started to teach again.

Jace turned and smirked at me, but I just glared at him and rolled my eyes.

"Your feisty aren't you Red." He said.

"I've told you a million times my names Clary." I said very annoyed.

"I know, but I like seeing you annoyed it's cute." He said as he smirked.

I faced the board immediately. He called me cute! My mind screamed. Then Mr. Thompson turned around from the chalkboard and started talking.

"Okay class, were going to do a project. As you know we are reading A Tale of Two Cities, so with a partner that I am going to assign you to I want you both to right a page of how you think the story will end." He finished. "So here are the partners."

He read a bunch of names, then he got to mine.

"Clary and Jace." He read out.

I felt happy and I felt dread at the same time. I turned to Jace and he was smirking at me.

"Looks like it's me and you, Red." He said

I ignored him.

"Where do you want to work on the project? Mine house or yours?" I said forced as the bell rang signalling that the period was over.

"Mine." He said. "But I'll need your number though."

"I can give it to you." A voice said.

I turned around and saw Sebastian standing there. He was smiling at me.

"How do you have it?" Jace said confused.

"I asked her for it in Science." Sebastian said simply.

"I see." Jace looked almost disappointed.

Weird, I thought. Why would he look like that?

After that they both left and I walked out with Simon. But I kept wondering why Jace seemed disappointed.
