Sidewalk Talks

Clary's pov

Simon and I were walking to my house after school, he was going to come over before I went to Jace's house. We were walking on the sidewalk when I saw Jace, Sebastian, Isabelle, and Alec crossing the street onto the sidewalk where we were walking on.

I cringed, I didn't want to see Jace. Who knows what he would say. Simon didn't seem to notice them, or care because he kept on talking and I tried my best to listen to what he was saying. Then all of sudden I heard a voice.

"Hey look it's Red!" Jace called out from ahead of us.

I cringed and looked up. The four of them were stopped on the sidewalk facing us. Simon and I walked up to them and kept walking, but Jace was right at my side.

"Where are you going Red?" He asked.

"Home." I said annoyed.

"Why's this nerd coming with you?" Jace asked

"He's my friend." I said through gritted teeth.

"Woah Jace take it easy." Sebastian said running up beside him.

"Yeah, besides the nerds kinda cute." Isabelle said while her eyes raked Simon up and down, and he turned beat red.

"Ugh why him Izzy?" Jace said disgusted. "I thought you weren't into nerds."

"Yes, but I'm always up to try new things." Isabelle smirked.

This conversation was starting to get too weird for me. "Um ok it was nice talking with you guys-or whatever that was- anyways we have to go." I said and I started to walk with Simon.

"Wait Red!" Jace said as he ran up to me again.

"What now?" I said very annoyed.

He smirked and whispered in my ear but everyone could still hear. "Come to my house at 5."

He started to walk away but I stopped him.

"Wait but I don't know where you live?" I said.

"I'll text you the directions. See you later Red." He said with an actual smile and he left.

As I walked with Simon I noticed he wasn't saying anything, and that there was a huge idiotic smile on his face.

"Simon are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah I'm good, amazing actually." He said cheerfully.

"Why what happened?" I say with a little laugh.

"Isabelle said I was cute." He says quietly.

"But I thought you- ohhhhhhhhh." I realized and then there was a smirk on my face. "So you've got the hots for Isabelle Lightwood."

"Shut up." He said Turning red and I laughed.
