~Lefty's POV~
I found myself whacking my alarm clock, wishing it hadn't gone off. I'm not a morning person. Oh, right. I'm Lefty. Lefty Something. Who needs a last name? I don't. And neither do my brothers, apparently. Actually, no one has a last name. Thanks whoever made us.
Anyways, back to the story. I got out of my bed, stretching like I normally do. It's a routine. Get out of bed, stretch, lay down for another five minutes, then actually get up. That's why I set my alarm for 5:55 instead of 6. Which reminds me, it's 5:57.
I laid back in bed for the next three minutes before actually getting up. Key word- actually. I grabbed clothes from my dresser and quickly changed, now wearing a light gray t-shirt with a yellow star and a pair of red shorts. Don't ask why, but I like the color red. I think it looks nice. Bonus, Helpy says it goes with my hair, which would be completely black except for the fact that I missed some hair when dying it. I mean, a few gray hairs - no, I'm not old - here and there isn't too bad. Helpy says I look fine. He has good taste, so I listen to him. Oh, by the way, he's my younger brother. He's about.. 13 I think? I'm 16.
ANYWAYS. After changing, I left my room to get Helpy out of bed. I swear, he's an angel. He doesn't ever complain. Ever. Plus, he's cute. If he wasn't my brother, I'm sure I'd fall for him. That's actually weird to think about, never mind.
"Helpy, you up?" I opened the door to his bedroom.
No response. I sighed, walking into the room and walking to his bedside.
"Helpy, wake up." I started to shake him awake. Thankfully, he's a rather light sleeper.
"Hm?.. What time is it?" Helpy asked. Judging by the tone of his voice, I must've interrupted a nice dream, because he sounded sad. I mean, I don't blame him. I don't like waking up either.
"Uhh, it's like 6:15. Get changed and I'll get breakfast going, 'kay?" I smiled.
"You had me at breakfast!" Helpy shot out of bed, shoving me out of the room. I sighed.
Well damn, now I gotta make breakfast. I regret offering. Great job, Lefty. I sighed mentally and walked downstairs, heading towards the kitchen.
Helpy quickly followed behind me. How I know? His footsteps are light. I have good hearing. Oh, forgot to mention. We have animal features. For example, Helpy and I have bear ears as well as a tail to complete the look. Most normal people don't have these features. We aren't normal, clearly.
"So how's breakfast coming along?" Helpy asked. I didn't even have to look at him to know he was wearing a smug look.
"I don't suppose you'd like to help me, eh?" I gave him a quick glare, but that didn't last long as he made his way to my side in less than a second. I swear when he sets a goal, he will get it done.
"Take a seat, I got this." Helpy smiled at me and I just shrugged, sitting on a stool across the counter.
I took this time to study Helpy's outfit for the day. He was wearing a lilac shirt with white sleeves, a little black bowtie, a pair of black jeans and basic black sneakers. I noticed he wears a lot of black. Maybe he's hitting his emo phase; either that or I'm just dumb. Most likely the latter option. Or maybe he liked wearing black because his hair and ears are white. That's why he got black glasses, or at least that's what he told me. I didn't question it. As I said before, he's got good taste.
"Helloo?" Helpy's voice snapped me back to reality. I looked up to see him waving his hand in front of my face.
"Sorry, zoned out." I said blankly.
"Did you sleep well?" Helpy tilted his head, concern filling his bright blue eyes behind the glass lenses.
"Yeah, I slept fine." I lied. "What about you?"
"Oh, don't worry about me. I always sleep fine, no questions needed!"
I narrowed my eyes, slowly becoming suspicious.
"Are you su-" I was cut off.
"Just eat! We have to catch the bus, remember?" Helpy slid a plate of eggs in front of my face.
I sighed, eating a tiny bite of the eggs. I threw them away when Helpy wasn't watching. I'm not much of a breakfast person. Wait, correction. Not a food person.
Helpy grabbed my hand, dragging me to the front door after cleaning up. He eagerly waited for me to get my shoes on.
"Ready to go?" Helpy grabbed his blue backpack.
"Yep- Wait, I forgot something." I started walking away.
Helpy groaned. I smirked, walking back and ruffling his hair.
"Gotcha."
"You jerk!" Helpy smacked my hand away, crossing his arms.
"Are we gonna go or no?" I tilted my head.
Helpy seemed to forget everything instantly, as he grabbed my hand and bolted out the door with a smile.
After about 5 or so minutes of walking, we reached the bus stop. We didn't have to wait long though, because the bus showed up, like, 30 seconds later. The good thing about being behind in the morning. We sat down in the back, in the same seat. This was usually what happened. No one spoke to us, and that was fine. Well, for me at least. I dunno about Helpy. He doesn't talk to me much. I'm not that scary looking, right? I mean, sure, only one of my eyes is visible, but that shouldn't affect anything...Right? Guess I should elaborate more. My hair covers my left eye. It's ironic, considering my name is Lefty. Okay, maybe not ironic, but to me it is. Why is it covered? Long story.
I glanced down at Helpy, who was on his phone.
"You gonna meet up with Bon-Bon again?" I spoke softly, almost whispering.
"Huh? Yeah, is that a problem?" Helpy looked up at me, his ears lowered a little.
"Defensive, aren't we? No it's not a problem, ya goofball." I ruffled his hair like earlier. He giggled, swatting my hand away. I smiled.
The bus came to a stop shortly after. Helpy got off, waving at me beforehand. I sighed, plugging my earbuds into my phone and putting them in my ears. My human ears, because it would be awkward otherwise. Don't ask, please. The bus stopped at the high school. I was the last to get off, as I separate myself from crowds. I'm antisocial, but can you blame me?
As I walked into the building, I began planning my day out.
Ah right, first period. Skip time.
I stuffed all my useless crap into my locker, taking only the essentials with me. What are the essentials? My phone and headphones, duh. I swiftly left the building, not even bothering to check behind me. No one ever follows me, and I never get caught.
At least, I would hope so.
Well.. First chapter, yay!... To those who read this, and I don't know why you would, prepare yourselves for one hell of a cringy story.
