'I wasn't the best man.'
~Molten's POV~
After beating him for the 30th time, I looked to my right to see Lefty had fallen asleep in the middle of the game. I paused it and stood up, setting my controller down before taking his and doing the same.
I should be able to carry him to his room. He's a heavy sleeper; either that or he was pretending to when I left him in the woods to get his stuff from school. I highly doubt that though.
I decided to just do it. I gently lifted Lefty off the couch, carrying him bridal-style to his bedroom. Thank god he didn't wake up. I may look like a big scary guy, but I'm actually not. I don't weigh much, which is funny because I was pestering Lefty about not eating. Does that make me a hypocrite? I hope not.
I laid Lefty down on his bed and, after putting the blankets on him, left the room. I wasn't gonna sleep in his bed without his permission, although I would've loved to. He's cute when he sleeps. Actually, he's just cute in general. I wonder what he thinks about me. It's probably nothing good, but hey, I can dream.
I returned to my seat on the couch and continued playing Smash Bros. by myself until about 5 AM. I'm used to not sleeping, so this wasn't anything new for me. The only thing different is the fact that I was under a roof and doing something fun. I heard a door creak and I instinctively looked in the direction it came from. Helpy slowly walked out of his room. I just watched him. I, thankfully, have excellent vision and I can see well in the dark.
Helpy walked over to the fridge and opened it after grabbing a glass cup. He filled it with water, silently closing it once he finished. I decided to be an ass, so I slowly rose from the couch, making my way over to the counter. Why? I wanna see his reaction to scares. I climbed on top of the counter, making only a single, almost inaudible sound. Unfortunately for me, Helpy picked up on it.
"H-hello?" Helpy whispered. I didn't respond; it would ruin this moment if I did.
"A-anyone?" Helpy continued. I chose to giggle, almost psychotically. I wanted to scare the hell out of him, and that's what I planned to do.
"Wh-who's there??" Helpy squeaked, his voice sounding terrified. To be honest, I kinda felt bad. However, I've gone to far to quit now. I moved across the counter, now emitting a low growling noise. Lefty's gonna yell at me, I'm betting on it, but it'll be okay. Helpy turned to face the counter, his eyes widening as he saw my outline, crouched on the counter.
Helpy shrieked, throwing his water at me. By 'throwing,' I mean he propelled the water forward with the glass. Not actually throwing it. I laughed as the light flickered on. Helpy just stood by the light switch.
"You took that surprisingly well!" I continued laughing. "That was hilarious. probably not for you though. I'm sorry by the way." Helpy just stared for a few seconds before laughing.
"I was terrified, but that was fun!" He smiled at me before handing me a towel. I took it and started drying where the water had hit me mostly - my hair, face, shirt, basically my whole upper half. As I was drying my hair, my bear ears appeared. Before now, they were hidden. I preferred them that way, as they are...not pretty. They are mostly white with some brown fur mixed in here and there. The thing I didn't like was how scarred they were. It looks like someone took the top part of my head and shoved it into a shredder. Why they were like that?...Long story.
Helpy gasped when seeing them. I quickly covered my head with the towel provided. I looked at him, a little scared as to what his reaction would be.
"You're like us!" He squealed quietly, tugging at the towel. I kept him from taking it. He looked at me confused. I sighed.
"Mhm.. I'm keeping this towel on till I can hide them again." It's weird, but they seem to disappear after some time. I guess I've trained my body to work how I intend to use it.
"Why?" Helpy blinked, tilting his head.
"They're horrible, that's why." I responded, shutting my eyes.
"They look fine!" Helpy tugged on my arm. I opened one eye to look at him.
"Did you even see?"
"I only got a quick glimpse."
I sighed, taking the towel off my head. Helpy stared at my ears.
"What happened..?" Helpy stepped back, concern in his eyes. I realized he wasn't wearing his glasses. But that's beside the point.
"Accident when I was young. How old? I can't remember. Maybe around 5 or 6." I said with a sigh.
"Oh.. I'm sorry." Helpy hugged me. I hugged back, smiling.
Lefty wasn't lying when he said this kid was an angel.
"Off topic question, don't you need your glasses?" I randomly asked.
"Oh." Helpy started. "Don't tell Lefty, but they're fake. I can see just fine."
"Why do you have them then?"
"I think I look better with them. Plain and simple."
"Hm, okay."
I glanced at the clock on the oven. 5:45. Which reminds me.
"Hey, what are you doing up so early? Besides getting water." I questioned.
"I like waking up early on weekends. More time to do what I want!" Helpy smiled.
"That's smart."
"What about you? Why are you up?"
"Uh, no reason." I lied. Helpy looked at me for a few seconds before nodding.
"Hey, your ears are gone." Helpy pointed out.
"Sweet, thanks."
"Wait, do you have a tail?" Helpy looked curious.
"Yeah." I laughed a little. Helpy smiled.
"Well, I'm gonna go lay back down because for once, I'm tired." Helpy walked back towards his room.
"See you later then."
"Yeah. Oh, and by the way, you shouldn't hide your ears. They look fine no matter what. Plus, I think Lefty would like it~." Helpy smiled before disappearing behind his door. I got up and shut the light off, walking back to the couch. I knew I was blushing. It wasn't hard to tell. Maybe I should try it.
What are some possible reactions? I thought for a moment.
Well, he could be afraid, disgusted, horrified, or anything like that. But then again, there's a chance it could go well. Maybe he'd like them, like Helpy said.
Maybe.
How I managed to put one night into about 1,000 words? No clue.
