Dabi spent most of the ride with his head down, blasting music in his ears. Most of the songs were emo or involved sex, which he happily mumbled along to, knowing full well his dad would disapprove.
All he wanted to do was blast Endeavor out the fucking window. He didn't do that though.
He had bigger fish to fry.
While none of his hero companions had filled him in on what exactly they were doing on this international mission, he had pieced together a few things.
Word on the street was that someone from the mansion battle had escaped and fled the country.
When Shigaraki had approached Dabi to track the bastard down and get revenge, he couldn't turn the opportunity down.
Sure, he wanted to be better for Keigo, but he was a villain at heart.
Besides, Keigo would forgive him...
... right?
...
Izuku shifted in his seat.
When All Might had told him that one of their companions would be different he had expected maybe a down syndrome person, and had actually been quite excited to hang out with them.
His heart had sunk when he saw the stapled man who now sat across from him.
Dabi wasn't quite as intimidating now as he was at camp, his shoulders were slumped and he had his eyes downcast.
If he listened carefully, the green haired boy could just barely hear the whisper of music coming from not only the villain's headphones but his scarred lips.
It was odd to think that the number two hero was really dating the monster- though Izuku supposed he shouldn't call him a monster before he even really knew the guy.
A sharp blue gaze jerked upward, making him freeze.
Dabi stared at him with a cold ferocity through his dark hair.
Izuku swallowed nervously, glancing over at All Might who wrapped a reasuring arm around his shoulders.
I just hope Hawks is right and we can trust him...
...
Endeavor kept his arms folded across his chest.
He still could scarcely believe his son was sitting right next to him after all this time.
Dabi was glaring at the floor, mumbling along to his music while sitting on the literal edge of his seat to keep away from the hero.
Enji could feel his heart aching, longing to apologise and hug his child. He knew that no apology could ever fix what he had done though, so he remained silent.
Knowing that Dabi was probably extra pissed at the fact that he had sat between the burnt man and his winged boyfriend only made his skin itch more.
At first he hadn't liked the thought. He always wanted his son to grow up to be a strong hero that would settle down with a woman and carry on the Todoroki family legacy.
He soon realized how selfish it was for him to think like that.
From here on out, he would support his son in following his own heart- even if that meant his heart was chasing a man.
Endeavor cleared his throat, hoping to gain attention.
Dabi only shouldered further away, his head low.
A heavy rock settled in the big hero's stomach.
All of his son's pain had been his fault.
Never again.
Never again would he hurt his son.
He patted the villain's shoulder, this time earning a sharp glare.
"The fuck you want old man?"
Endeavor held back his hurt. "Would you like to trade seats?"
Dabi looked about to retort, only to think better of it and curtly nod.
The hero stood, letting the villain slide across and take his seat.
He then sat down in the other spot, feeling a smile creep onto his face as his son smiled, leaning against Hawks.
Maybe they were meant to be together.
...
Hawks felt his heart flutter as Dabi traded places with Endeavor, leaning against his shoulder with a sigh.
The hero wordlessly trailed his fingers through the other man's soft black hair.
The villain soon fell asleep, snoring softly.
Hawks looked around coming to a sudden realization:
Endeavor was Dabi's dad.
All Might and finger destroyer kid were basically father and son.
Am I out of place here?
He swallowed the lump in his throat.
It shouldn't matter to him that he didn't have a father figure with him.
Hell- he hadn't seen his dad since his parents sold him off to the Hero Commission just so they could have a good life without him.
Though he would never admit it, Hawks always had a bitter taste in his mouth at the thought of family. He always wanted one. But his hadn't even given a second thought before dumping him away like moldy left overs.
Was I really that bad of a kid?
He could feel his cheeks heating up as a pain flooded his heart, pumping through his veins until it was all through him.
He shouldn't care about his childhood.
The past is the past.
He's wanted and loved now.
Right?
