Now if anyone asked you, you would have said that you were definitely over Luke, and that there was nothing for you to be jealous of. But in your mind, you knew very well, how much of a lie that it would be. Seeing Luke and Tilly together made your skin crawl. Watching her giggle and laugh at the jokes he made. Watching him kiss her like he had kissed you once. It made you sick. Of course at the same time, you also knew it was for show. Every time he kissed her or touched her, he made sure you were looking, made sure you saw everything he did, making sure you knew what you could have with him. But you were not going to give in that easy. You were going to make him pay for everything he did, make him pay for thinking he could get you back that easily. And you knew exactly how you could do it. Ever since the day Luke had seen you with J, you knew just what made him tick, just what set him off. And that was seeing you with any guy other than him. You’d even seen him giving dirty looks to Ricky when you were together. And while you had originally started the tour with no attention of getting involved with anyone, it was now starting to seem pretty appealing, just for the chance of making Luke mad. You weren’t the type of person to use others just for your benefit, so you made it your rule to not lead anyone on, just a little show whenever Luke was around. And now as you were watching them warm up, currently playing English Love Affair, you realized, what better way to make him jealous than to flirt with the one person who was sure to flirt back with no regard for the repercussions. Calum. The first day you had met Calum, he had made several advances towards you in the first 20 minutes and then grabbed your ass when you said your goodbye’s. And even throughout your relationship with Luke, he never ceased to make it very apparent that he was interested. He was definitely not the shy type and you knew if you played your cards right he would have no problem shamelessly flirting without any expectation of it going anywhere. As they ended their set, you made your way towards the backstage area, in order to find him and it wasn’t long until you did. You sat yourself down on one of the amps just backstage, adjusting your low cut, velvet crop top, and crossing your legs. The boys came laughing off stage, talking loudly about some joke that Michael had made. As they walked by, you caught Calum’s eye, giving him a wink. He immediately broke off from the other boys and came towards you, earning a disapproving scowl from Luke who was so caught up in staring daggers at his bandmate that he neglected to look where he was walking and tripped over the length of chord stretched across the floor in front of him, stumbling forward and nearly losing his balance.
"Watch out, Luke.” You called, a sly smirk across your face. He spun around to retaliate, but you quickly directed your attention toward Calum, turning your back toward him and knowing that he was probably fuming at this point.
”Long time, no see, y/n,” Calum smirked, standing directly in front of you and placing his hands on your thighs.
”Did you miss me?” You asked, an innocent pout playing across your lips.
”More than you know. I was pretty pissed when I heard about what happened between you and Luke. Ya know, I would never do that to you, princess.”
”Guess I chose the wrong band member then, huh?”
”I’d say so,” he smiled deviously, leaning towards you and bringing his lips to your ear, “If you ever wanna find out for sure, you know where to find me.”
"I’ll have to remember that,” you replied in a low voice, placing your hand on his and sliding it further up your thigh. Calum’s eyes narrowed, flicking quickly down towards your chest and back up, clearly caught off guard by your confident actions.
”Are you sure you wanna do that, pri-“
Suddenly you heard someone clear their throat from behind you. You turned around, finding Luke in the same spot he had been before. Apparently having not left.
”Enjoying the show, Hemmings?” You asked, knowing it would push his buttons. You watched as his fists clenched and his his tensed up again. You half expected him to punch something, but instead he turned his attention towards Calum.
”Calum, it’;s time to go. You have more important things to be spending your time on.” He said, glancing at you quickly, trying to see if he could get a reaction out of you. Instead you gave him a smile, hopping off the amp and adjusting your top once again.
”We should pick this up later,” Calum said, eyes scanning your body, clearly outlined by your forming fitting top and ripped, black skinny jeans.
”If you can find time between all your ‘;more important’ stuff.” You teased.
”Trust me, it’s not nearly as important.” He replied, earning and indignant scoff from Luke.
”I know,” you said, giving him and wink before spinning around and walking towards the stairs that led to the staging area.
”Later, Hemmings.” You said sweetly to Luke, waving your fingers as you passed him.
As you walked down the steps, you felt a sense of confidence rush over you, knowing that they were both watching you leave, an extra hop in your step, swaying your hips a little more than usual. You made your way over to your bandmates who were all sitting on a picnic bench outside the tour bus. Upon reaching them you realized they were all talking lowly about something. As you sat down they ceased their conversation, directing their stares towards you as you sat down on the cold metal bench.
”What?” You asked, confused by their secretive actions. They all stared at you in silence, causing you to become extremely self conscious. You stared down at the ground, drawing shapes in the dirt with the toe of your Converse. Finally Layla spoke, “Y/n, what are you doing talking to Calum?” You felt your entire body relax and you let out a laugh, explaining what was going on.
”Wait, so he tripped??” Ricky asked, trying to stifle a laugh.
”Yup, and then he decided to stay and watch the whole thing.”
”God, what an idiot.” Jonah giggled, glancing down at her watch. “Oh, time to go get ready for the show,” she announced. You got up and walked towards the stage, followed by your bandmates.
”I just hope this doesn’t backfire on you, y/n.” Jonah whispered to you as she caught up to you.
”Don’t worry,” you reassured her, “I promise it won’t.”
Later that night, as you changed in to you pajamas, in your hotel room, you couldn’t help, but think about earlier. What if Calum did end up developing feelings for you, or you for him. What if you ruined their friendship? You thoughts were interrupted by a sudden knock on your door. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you padded toward the door, not expecting anyone to be coming over. Peaking through the peephole your breath hitched in your throat. Opening the door, your mind began to race.
”Hey, y/n,” Calum said, giving you a smirk, causing your heart to jump in to your throat.
”Uh, hi, um, wh-what are you doing here?” You stuttered, not sure how he found your hotel room.
”Jonah told me,” he replied.
”Of course,” you mumbled, noting that you definitely would have to talk to her later.
"I know what you were doing earlier. What that whole thing was about." You were beyond embarrassed at this point, tears beginning to form in your eyes as you came down from the confidence high you had been riding on since earlier, waiting for him to call you out on your bullshit.
"And I want in."
