It wasn't long before the situation in the park ended up on multiple gossip sites, so when you took Clara back to your sister's, she was already asking about it. Your sister, Lelah, said that a friend of hers had sent her a link to an article that had pictures of you and Michael Clifford from 5 Seconds of Summer. You took a look at the article, and a few more, and they all had pictures of you together at the park and the ice cream shop. Each article explained that many people saw how you saved his son from being run over by that idiotic skater, and how you and Michael went to the ice cream shop afterwards. Everyone was already questioning if you and Michael would see each other again and if you'd be sticking around, either as friends or something more. When your sister asked about him, you talked about how nice he was and how you thought he was cute, and when she found out there wasn't a mother in the picture, she encouraged you to see him again when the opportunity came up. You did want to see him again, that's why you gave him your number, but then you suddenly thought that maybe you shouldn't get involved with a guy like Michael. It wasn't because of who he was, but it was actually because Noah's mother wasn't around. You didn't know exactly why she wasn't there, but what if she came out of no where because she didn't like the fact that Michael had another woman around her son, or because she suddenly wanted to get back with Michael and be a family? "I just feel like it might be difficult with him," you said to Lelah, "He'll always have a connection with this woman because they have a son. If I get involved-" She interrupted you, "You're thinking too much into it. I know you don't want to get hurt, or maybe you don't want to feel like you're getting in the way of anything, but you only met him today. If he's nice, get to know him more. Then decide if you don't want to get involved." You decided to take her advice. Michael seemed like a nice guy and a good father who cared so much about his son, you held a good conversation with him so of course you wanted to know more about who he was. And when he called you the very next day and invited you to join him and Noah for lunch, you happily agreed.
Michael decided on pizza for lunch, so you met up with them at a pizzeria.
"Hey," Michael smiled when he saw you walking towards their table. He stood up and greeted you with a hug, "It's good to see you again."
"Missed me already?" You joked.
He chuckled then looked at his son, "Remember Y/N from yesterday, Noah?"
Noah nodded and hopped off his chair and hugged your leg.
"Hi, Noah," you laughed and lifted him up so that he could give you a proper hug. You sat down at the table and a waitress came by to take the order and quickly returned with a basket of bread sticks and your drinks.
"So how are you?" Michael asked as you waited for the food. "Good day so far?"
You nodded, "Yeah. I'm good."
"Um, I wanted to apologize in case you were bothered by all of the stuff about you already in the media. It must be weird for you to read all of that nonsense and to see pictures of it everywhere," he sighed.
You shook your head, "You don't have to apologize. It is weird to have people talking about me, but it's not exactly your fault. Besides, they weren't saying anything too bad, so I don't mind, honestly."
"Okay," he half smiled.
You and Michael talked more about each other, sharing anything about your personal lives that you were comfortable with sharing. You talked about your life in LA while he talked about his life in Australia and how he and his best friends became a band. You loved listening to him talk about his band and music, especially their own, because you could tell how much it all meant to him.
"That reminds me," you say after taking a bite of your pizza. "Now, don't get all cocky or anything," you joked.
He looked at you, "What?"
"After meeting you yesterday, I decided that I should listen to more of your music. So, I..." You trailed off when you noticed Noah randomly standing up from his seat and your eyes followed him.
Michael looked back as his son walked behind him and around to your side of the table, "Where are you going, bud?"
Noah stopped in front of you. "I want to sit with you," he said and you really heard his Australian accent for the first time. You thought he sounded so adorable.
"Noah-"
"It's okay," you smiled. "Of course you can sit with me." Noah grinned and reached up for you to lift him onto your lap.
Michael laughed, "I think he likes you."
"Aw," you giggled. "Well, I like him, too. He's seriously the cutest kid I've ever met." You wrapped your arm around him and made sure he was comfortable before you continued, "Anyways, as I was saying, I listened to your albums and some of your EPs."
"You did?" He smiled widely.
You nodded, "I must say your band's music is really good. I can tell that you put a lot of work into everything that you do. I also saw some live videos and all I can say is 'wow.'"
"Aw, thanks. That's really sweet, Y/N. Do you have a favorite song?" He asked.
"You see, I know when an artist's music is really good when I have a hard time picking a favorite song," you answered as you grabbed a bread stick after Noah mumbled for one and tried to reach for it. You tore small pieces so it'd be easier for him to eat. "But I'm really loving 'Wrapped Around Your Finger' right now," you continued.
Michael smiled even wider, "I wrote that one. Well, me and Luke did."
"Really? I like the way it's written, and the guitar in it sounds amazing," you gushed, making him smile even more. "You said you were here because you were working on your next album. How's it coming along?"
"We actually haven't started yet," he answered. "We got here a few days ago and have a show coming up next week. We wanna get through that first before we start worrying about song writing, but we've got some pretty good ideas."
"I see."
"The show we're doing is this music festival that we were invited to play at. There's gonna be tons of other artists there, you should come," he offered.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. Plus, I need someone to look after Noah while I'm on stage," he added.
You chuckled and handed Noah another piece of bread. "Oh, so you want me there just so I could babysit for you?"
"You did say you would babysit if I needed it and I trust you," he said looking down.
"Already?" You tilted your head a little.
He nodded, "I know it's weird, I just have this feeling..." He looked up at you again. "Seriously though, you seem great and it'd be cool to have you there."
You thought for a moment then nodded with a smile. "Okay. Yeah, I'll be there."
Over the next week, you and Michael went out for lunch everyday, but without Noah. Michael thought it'd be good if only the two of you spent some time together, not only because he had a crush on you, but kind of to see what you were really like and if he could really have you around his son. He did have a strong feeling that he could trust you, but being a father, he always wanted to make sure that Noah would be around positive and kind people. And you were way beyond that. Though you've known each other for only such a short time, you spent a lot of time talking to each other even when you weren't together and it made Michael realize how much he liked having you around, and how much he liked you. He liked how witty you were, yet very sweet and caring at the same time. You turned out to be the nicest person he'd ever met, but he already knew well enough that you were never afraid to call someone out or stand up for yourself - he saw a little bit of that part of you the day he met you in the park. You loved kids and judging by the way you looked after your niece and how comfortable Noah already was with you, Michael thought that having you around definitely wouldn't be a bad thing.
On the day of the music festival, you showed up with your ticket and all access pass that Michael gave you and walked around backstage looking for him, but instead you met Luke, Calum and Ashton for the first time.
"Oh, hey. You must be Y/N. I'm Ashton," he held out his hand.
"Hi," you smiled, shaking his hand.
"This is Luke and Calum," he pointed to each of the boys.
"We heard about how you saved our little Noah," Calum said. "That was pretty awesome of you."
"Oh, yeah. It really scared the shit out of me. I'm just glad that I got him out of the way in time," you sighed in relief. Just talking about it reminded you of how scared you were for Noah because you worried that you wouldn't reach him in time, and you were thankful that you did.
"Us, too," Ashton added. "Noah could have been seriously hurt if you didn't help him. Michael always looks out for him and he felt bad for not keeping a close eye that day, but I guess the good thing that came out of it was him meeting you."
"Michael talks about you a lot," Luke whispered, making you blush.
"What was that?" A familiar voice called. You looked over behind the boys and smiled when you saw Michael walking towards you with Noah in his arms.
"Nothing!" Luke said quickly.
"Down!" Noah demanded and when his father set him onto his feet, he ran towards you. "Y/N!"
You giggled at how cute he was, "Hi, Noah!" You lifted him off the ground and placed a light kiss on his cheek.
"He already likes you better than his own father," Michael rolled his eyes.
"Hi, Michael," you chuckled. You hugged him with one arm as you were still carrying Noah with the other.
"I hope my friends didn't do anything weird and freak you out," he said and each of the boys snickered.
You laughed, "They didn't."
"Good."
You hung out with the boys backstage until it was their turn to go on stage and while you waited, you immediately saw the close bond that they shared over the years. Michael talked about how Luke, Calum and Ashton weren't even his best friends. They were like his brothers. You could see why they were because all four of them were crazy. You had a good laugh with them and there was never a dull moment around them. When it was almost time for their set, you stood with them at the side of the stage where they were handed their instruments. Now that you were a fan of their music, you were excited to see them, especially Michael, perform. You watched as Ashton ran out on stage to get the crowd ready and just before Michael had to go on stage, he put a set of ear muffs over Noah's ears, "There ya go, bud. I know you love daddy's music, but we don't want your hearing to go out just yet. Make sure he keeps those on. Sometime's he tries to get them off."
You nodded, "Have fun."
"Up, up," Noah tugged on your hand and when you looked down, you saw him stretching his arms up as he jumped so you picked him up and carried him in your arms. Michael kissed Noah on the top of his head and smiled at you before running out on stage. You let out a breath, feeling the butterflies in your stomach like you always did every time he looked at you and smiled.
"Your daddy's really handsome," you said to Noah, even though he wouldn't hear you. He only rested his head in the crook of your neck as he watched Michael play.
You were very impressed with the band during their set. You loved the energy that they had on stage because it showed how much they loved performing. Their vocals were always on point and when it came to the slower songs, listening to Michael's voice just made your heart melt. The boys did really great, you thought, but when it came to the last song, Michael suddenly fell on his back from jumping around. "Daddy fell," Noah shouted at the same time when you said, "Oh my God!" You covered your mouth, trying to contain your laugh, but at the same time you were worried for him. He got up instantly and laughed it off, but he was limping. Luke, Calum and Ashton all looked over, without stopping the song, to make sure that he was okay. Giving a quick thumbs up, he continued with the song and when it was over, he limped off the stage.
"Are you okay?" You asked, setting Noah down as Michael put a hand on your shoulder to keep himself up. "That was a pretty bad fall," you snickered.
"I'm fine." Michael groaned, "I sprained my ankle pretty bad, but I'm fine."
"I got him," Calum put Michael's arm over his shoulders to help him walk back to their dressing room.
You took the ear muffs off of Noah and took his hand before following the rest of the boys. "What happened?"
"I might have slipped," Michael answered.
"I looked over and saw you falling," Luke laughed. "It took you a while before you hit the floor."
You tried your hardest not to laugh, but failed.
"Glad you guys think it's funny," Michael rolled his eyes.
You stopped laughing and sighed, "I'm sorry."
Once you got to their dressing room, Calum helped Michael onto the sofa. While Ashon got some ice, you helped him get his leg up on the table and placed a pillow underneath his foot.
"Here ya go," Ashton said, handing you a pack of ice.
"Thanks." You put the ice pack over Michael's ankle, "Good?"
He nodded, "Thank you."
"Are you okay, daddy?" Noah asked, sitting beside him.
"Yes, I'm fine, bud." Michael smiled.
"Look, there's already videos of your fall all over twitter," you chuckled, sitting next to Michael.
"Oh, god." He sighed.
You showed him the video and you bursted out laughing.
"Stop," he whined.
"I wanna see!" Luke sat beside you and suddenly he and the other boys were looking at your phone. The video was a vine so it played on a loop, making the boys laugh uncontrollably.
"Y/N!" Michael whined again.
You took your phone and showed him again, while laughing. "It just looks so funny! You didn't even trip, how did you even fall like that?! Luke was right, it took you a while to hit the floor and that makes it even funnier!" You were laughing so hard, you leaned your head into Michael's shoulder (which made him blush a little) and almost started crying.
"You're horrible! You all are. I'm in pain and you're all laughing!" Michael pouted.
"Just look. It's so hard not to laugh," you said out of breath, showing him the video once more.
Michael chuckled, "Okay, fine. It's kinda funny. But seriously, I've got the worst sprained ankle of all time."
"You're fine though. I'll take care of you," you said and he smiled.
Michael really did hurt his ankle pretty bad. He couldn't walk properly for the rest of the night and throughout the next day, he was still limping every now and then. You went to the house that the boys were staying at to help look after Noah while Michael rested his ankle. On the night after the music festival, you helped put Noah to sleep and you spent the next day helping to take care and play with him.
Michael couldn't help but smile as he watched you spend time with his son. He knew that Noah didn't remember his mother. He didn't even know that he still had a mother because Michael hadn't heard from her for more than two years. He never knew what to tell Noah, he would just say, "Mommy's not here, but you'll see her soon." But he didn't know when soon would be. Michael really liked you and he could tell that Noah did too. It always seemed difficult for him to find someone who would not only accept the fact that he was already a father, but someone who would also be good to his kid. You already seemed like a good mother figure to Noah and Michael just hoped that even if you didn't want to be together in the way that he hoped to be, you wouldn't run if he asked you to stay.
