Grounded

During the car ride home, Amy opens her big mouth. "I know you like Rodrick Heffley," she says. "Oh yeah, how'd you come up with that," she says. "Greg told me. And about the party," she says, smugly. "What party?" Dad asks. I want to punch her right now. "You know, the party Rodrick had. The one him and Greg got grounded for," Amy says. "You never asked me to go to a party. So you lied," Dad says. "Yup, I lied. Cause I knew you'd say no," I admit. "You can't lie to us, Lina, you'll just get caught eventually," Katherine chimes in. "I don't think you're part of this," I say. "Well just know you're grounded now," Dad says.

When we get home, I go straight to my room and slam the door. Could things get any worse?

Me: Amy knows about the party night, then opened her big mouth so I'm grounded now.
Nicki: Noooo
Megan: Ffs!!!
Me: I'll just see you girls at school for the next few weeks.

The talent show is tomorrow night, and there's no way I am going to that. I'll look myself in my room if I have to. I fall off to sleep, dreaming about a boy with dark hair and eyeliner.

The next day, I spend all day in my room, since I'm grounded anyway. In the afternoon, Dad knocks on the door. "Be ready at five p.m," he says. "I'm not going," I call out. "Yes you are, so get ready," he says.
