Party

At Megan's, we all get ready while drinking some of Nicki's vodka that she managed to get a hold of. I change into my new outfit, straighten my long jet black hair and do my dark eye makeup.

We head to Rodrick's around 7pm. The front is already a mess and I can hear the music inside. Mr and Mrs Heffley definitely don't know about this. We walk inside and Rodrick and I catch eachother's eye. I can't help but stare at him for a moment, with his dark eyeliner and messy hair. I notice him looking me up and down with his cheeky smirk. "Look, the babysitter's here," he says to his mates. They all laugh.

"Cool party thrown by a jerk," I whisper to my friends. We stand around, chatting and I make some new friends too. So many girls are complimenting my outfit and I'm really enjoying myself. Suddenly, the home phone starts ringing. "EVERYBODY FREEZE!" Rodrick exclaims. The music stops and everyone is silent while he talks to Susan Heffley on the phone. I feel bad that I'm here when I shouldn't be.

I decide to go into the kitchen to mix myself a drink. I pour some vodka and juice into a cup, when Rodrick appears next to me. "Enjoying my party?" he asks. "It's alright. Where are your parents?" I ask. "They're away for the night," he says. Typical. He leans in closer. "So, I just want to ask you something," he says. My heart starts beating fast at how close he is to me. "Yeah?" I say, quietly. "Do you know if Rachel Green is single? I wanna try talk to her."

I feel my stomach drop for no reason. "No, sorry. I'm still the new girl," I say. I walk back into the living room to find my friends, when I see Greg and one of his friends. He sees me and shyly smiles. "Greg! I didn't know you were here," I say. "Well, maybe if Rodrick didn't lock me in the basement. But after Mom called, I made sure he let me back out," he tells me. That jerk. "Enjoy yourself," I say, walking back to my friends. "Rodrick just asked me if Rachel Green is single," I tell them. "She is, but he definitely isn't her type," Nicki says. "Oh look, he's talking to her now," Megan says. We see them talking but Rachel Green has an unbothered look on her face.

"I THINK YOUR BROTHER LIKES HER!" A voice yells. It's Greg's friend Rowley. Everyone goes silent again and I feel embarrassed for Rodrick. I see him give up and just enjoy the party. We start having a great night, Greg and Rowley too. "I'll be back, going toilet," I tell my friends. I head upstairs to the bathroom. As I'm walking out, I bump into Rodrick. "Woah, slow down," he chuckles. I just roll my eyes at him. "Hey, I want to play a song for you," he says, pulling me into his room. He sits down at his drum set and I sit on his bed. I realise he's a little tipsy and just goofing around. He plays the drums, acting corny and I laugh at how silly he can be. He walks over to the bed and sits next to me.
