New School

Dad and Katherine are making Amy and I start at our new schools on Monday morning.
I try to ignore my nerves while I'm getting ready for school. I hate starting at new schools, making new friends. I drive to Crossland High School.

As I pull in the student car park, I see that hideous 'LÖDED DIAPER' van pull in too. Jerk-Boy stumbles out, aswell as one of his mates from the Roller Rink. He looks over at me and grins. "Hey new girl," he says. I just raise my eyebrows at him and walk into the school, trying to keep my head up as if I'm confident. My first class is P.E, which is my absolute least favourite. In the change rooms, I put on black shorts, a black T-shirt, and black Nikes. I walk into the gymnasium and just join amongst the girls and try to blend in. The teacher starts to read out the role. When she gets to my name, of course all the girls turn and stare. "Welcome, Lina. You can pair with Megan today," she says. Megan walks over to me as we start to warm up. She's pretty, with curly brown hair. "Hey, I'm Megan," she says, smiling.

Megan and I click straight away. She's reserved, like me. I watch and listen how all the girls just gossip loudly. Megan and I find out we have mostly every class together, so we decide to stick together. Next is cooking class. On the way there, Megan introduces me to her friend, Nicki. We pair as a three for cooking. I see two boys mucking around at the back of the class, almost lighting a tea-towel on fire. I groan. Of course it's Jerk-Boy.
"That's Rodrick and Chris. Always pissing the teachers off," Megan says. "How immature," I say.
