The next Friday, I go over to babysit Manny again. This time, Rodrick is home but he's in his room practicing with his band. When Manny falls asleep, my curiosity gets the better of me and I head up to the attic. I knock on the door. Rodrick opens it and laughs. "Look, the babysitter wants to join," he says. "Nah, I just wanna hear how 'good' your band is," I say. "Oh we're better than good. We're going to perform in the Talent Show this year and win," Rodrick says. His room is a typical boy room and it isn't very pleasant. I sit on the couch while they start playing. The thing is, Rodrick is a really good drummer. But the band itself, 'LÖDED DIAPER' is such an immature, off-putting name. "Good luck at the Talent Show," I say, leaving.

The next day, I meet up with Megan and Nicki again. We decide to hang out each Saturday. We go to the mall again. Suddenly, we all get a text message at the same time.

PARTY AT MY PLACE. RODRICK.

"Yay!! The first party this year and Lina can come with us!" Megan exclaims. "Oh, no that's okay. I'll give it a miss," I say. I wonder why The Heffley's would let Rodrick have a party? "No, Lina you have to come! It'll be fun!" Nicki says. I frown. "Okay fine," I sigh. They both get excited and start planning. "Let's get ready at mine, and you can both sleep over after since I live on Rodrick's street anyway," Megan says. We agree to this plan, and head our seperate ways. We decide to meet back at Megan's at 5pm.

I get home and decide to lie to Dad and Katherine. They're both strict about parties and I know they'll ask a million questions. "Could I stay over my friend Megan's tonight? We're having a girly movie night," I ask them. "Yeah that's fine, as long as I can drop you off there," Dad says. I go upstairs and choose my outfit for tonight. I catch myself wondering what outfit Rodrick would like best. Why on Earth and I'm worried what he thinks? I try to ignore the thought as I pack my bag to go to Megan's. I dress in sweatpants and a hoodie so they won't be suspicious.
