Today marks the last few two weeks of junior high. Two more weeks and I finally graduate and head on to a new chapter of my life. In all honesty, my life is pretty mundane. There's nothing out of the ordinary. Well, except yesterday. It was the first time Leon actually said a word to me and that alone is pretty extraordinary.
I set my thoughts aside and decided to listen to our boring history teacher. When I said that I loved learning, I love learning things except for history. Something about it screams.... boring.
" Now class, the Covid-19 virus was the most recent pandemic of the 21st century...." My eyes started to become heavier like baggage was attached to each of them. Thirty minutes of suffering later, break time has finally arrived. I stretched my arms up as if I had just woken up from a long sleep.
Now, what to do to pass time.
I reached my bag for another of one my mangas. This time it's another classic. My parents said it was released when I was just four years old. I smiled when I read the title, Demon Slayer, it says on the cover. I took a deep breath to prepare myself but got disrupted when a couple of girls squealed in class.
I turned my head and was surprised to see Leon standing near the door with a book in his hand. My eyes widened, what could he be doing here?
Leon ignored the girls gawking at him and headed straight towards me. I was startled, I would have never thought he would come to my class. He lifted his hand and showed me the manga that I lent him yesterday.
" Uh, can I help you?" I asked, bewildered at what is happening currently. Leon's eyes navigated the room before shoving the manga on my desk.
" I finished it," He mumbled. I furrowed my eyebrows and leaned my head a little to try and understand what he had just said. He heaved a sigh and cleared his throat.
" Here, I said I finished it. You can have it back." I looked at the manga and to my surprise, a couple of pages looked like it was touched.
                              " B-but how-"
" I stayed up late." He cleared his throat one more time and smiled awkwardly. I gently slid the manga in my bag and looked around suspiciously.
" So, do you have more?" He asked politely. I couldn't help but have a smile on my face when he responded. I nodded my head excitedly and grinned, grabbed another manga in my bag and handed it to him while showing off a proud face.
He looked at it for a while but took it from my hands. " Thanks." He told me and left.
                              Well, that was something new.
The girls who gawked at Leon came rushing at me, all three of them. One, who's probably the leader of the trio looked at me with sparkling eyes.
" Hey, are you friends with Leon?" She asked and I leaned back because hers was coming forward. Are Leon and I even considered friends? Lending him a manga is one step closer to it but I don't think I can call him my friend yet.
" Uhm, not really," I replied honestly and all of them pouted.
" Darn it, I was going to ask you to set me up with him." They all looked at me straight in the eyes.
" Are you sure?" Another one asked. She had dirty blonde hair that screamed it was dyed and her lips were shinier than ever, it's as if someone took vegetable oil and smothered her lips with it.
I slowly nodded my head and smiled apologetically.
" Ugh, let's go. Thanks anyways," The center said and all three of them left with her command.
