It was finally Friday and another end of the school day. This week is going to be my second last week in Junior High. I felt excited when I thought about it but then I remembered that high school is where serious things happen.
I rode the train to Seijoh, a painful one hour away from my school. I had to go on a separate way from Natsuki and Sawamura after my dad told me his team was going to have a match and wanted me to watch it.
As the train passes by a number of different buildings. I couldn't help but think about Sawamura. I hated it. Each time she enters my mind it pisses me off, since when have I thought about a girl this much? Imagining her smile as she talks to Natsuki on the way home pisses me off more.
I received a text from Natsuki, a rather surprising message to come from him.
' Sawamura-san likes mangas? ' He asked and I replied almost immediately.
' Yes. Why?' Not even a few seconds later, I received a reply.
' I'll buy her a few ones. Don't tell her. ' I furrowed my brows upon reading the text.
' That's surprising. Why would you do that? ' Even though I already knew the answer. It was obvious right from the start that my friend already took interest in her. The way he changes everytime she's with us, it's annoying. I felt guilty for thinking that, Natsuki's my close friend after all and If I had to chose between them. I'd chose my friendship over any girl.
' Dude, keep it a secret please. I like her. And I'm going to tell her next week. ' I locked my phone after reading his message and tried to convince myself I didn't care.
' Okay. ' I replied, almost sounding too bitter.
I arrived at Seijoh, exhausted from the travel and dialled my dad's number. Once I step inside this school, I don't want to think about any of those two.
' The number you've called is currently unavailable-'
I sighed and stood beside the gate impatiently. The sun was beginning to set as the sky turns orange. A shadow of a tall man appeared in view. I turned around to see who it was.
A guy bigger and taller than me stood behind while on his phone. He was wearing a jersey that my dad wears all the time which led me to think that he was a part of the team. His eyes darted from his phone to mine intimidating.
" Can I help you?" He asked. He was much more manlier than I am. I couldn't help but laugh at my puny existence when I look at him.
" Uh, I'm here to watch the practice match." I cleared my throat and stood straight. On his side was a gym bag that said ' Aoba Johsai ' on it. He stared at me for a few seconds, scanning my face and then narrowed his eyes at me.
" You're not from here." He said.
" I'm Oikawa Tooru's son." His expression didn't change after what I said. I expected him to at least be surprised. But I guess after being with my dad almost everyday, my existence is not even a tad bit surprising.
" Follow me." He ordered and began moving forward. I quietly walked behind him and observed the surroundings. The school was much bigger than I thought, it has fields that are much larger than ours and multiple gyms. The man led me to the gym that echoed with balls being spiked from the inside.
He entered the gym and I caught a glimpse of the team practicing their spikes while my dad sat on the chair all serious looking. One guy approached us, he was as tall as the man that guided me here and had black hair.
" Nakamura-san! You're finally here." He grinned and playfully slapped the man who's name is apparently Nakamura. He seemed friendlier than Nakamura-san.
