he walked up to me,
he looked stunning, brand new.
next to me,
swollen, worn-out.
he put his arm on my shoulder,
patted me in the back and said
"you did well, buddy."
a diamond tear rolled down my face,
and for the first time in my life,
I finally felt liberated.
he removed the weight off of my shoulders
and he grew the whitest, most beautiful
pair of wings I have ever seen.
just like that,
he hugged me.
I became colorful,
I was so bright.
