I wake up on Papa's chair as he was on the computer. He notices me moving and smiles. He's still in his Arrow costume. It must not have been long since he picked me up. I smile back and look around. I notice Mister Dig on the table, unconscious and sweaty. I divert my eyes to my stomach as growls.
"Here," Papa says softly grabbing my bag and taking out a snack of saltine crackers and green grapes. Yummy.
"Thank you," I smile say thanks in Russian, greedily taking the food and opening the container. Papa smiles. "Can we play cards again?" He nods, taking out a pack of brand new cards. He smirks and shuffles them, telling me to pick a card. I giggle and take one. It's a Queen of Hearts.
"Hmm. Is it a 6?" he asks with a fake gasp, causing me to giggle more, knowing he is wrong. I shake my head. "A 5 of spades? No? Hmm? Put it here."
I put the card in the middle of the deck as he shuffles them. I giggle wondering what he's going to do. He looks at me and smiles.
"Is this your card?" he shows me a King of Clubs. I laugh more as he sighs. "No? Hmm... What is it?"
I pull out a card and show it to him. He looks at the card and then me.
"A queen of hearts? I should have got that, shouldn't I?" he asks me and laughs. I nod and he picks me up and places me on his back. He runs around the room with me on his back, I like feeling the wind in my face.
After a little bit, I go to sit down next to papa as he works on whatever it is he's doing. He hands me my book that I am trying to read. Papa's slowly helping me learn to read. I've gotten better at it, with the help of Sara, and Tatsu, though she taught me Japanese as well as a little English.
"Hey," Papa said as he heard groaning from behind him. Mister Dig groaned as he rolled over and off the metal table he was laying on.
"Oliver?" Mister Dig asks, looking up to the now standing Papa. Mister Dig now stands up and stares at him, wearing the 'Hood' costume. I didn't like that name; it was too bland. "You're that vigilante."
He states, before weakly trying to punch him as Papa dodges it.
"Easy, Dig. You were poisoned," Papa tells him as Mister Dig leans on the table next to me, not noticing me on the floor.
"Son of a *****," Mister Dig tells him before trying to attack him again, I close my ears at his language and give him a look. Papa grabs his arm and puts it in a lock, before letting him go and pushing him to the table.
"I could have taken you anywhere, I could have taken you home," Papa tells his guard. "I brought you here."
"You really did lose your mind on that island," Mister Dig tells him after a moment of him staring at Papa.
"Found a couple of things along the way," Papa says.
"Like what, archery classes?"
"Clarity. Starling City... is dying. It is being poisoned by aa criminal elite... who don't care who they hurt... as long as they maintain their wealth and power."
"What are you going to do? Take 'em all down by your lonesome?"
"No. No, I want you to join me. Special forces of Kandahar. It's perfect. You're a fellow soldier."
"Oliver, you're not a soldier. You're a criminal. And a murderer," Mister Dig tells him, gripping his arm that was shot. I hid behind my bags so he wouldn't see me as he looked around and left.
Papa walks into his mansion, with me sleepily on his back and carrying my backpack in one hand. He tries to be as quiet as he could be as he walked up the stairs. Only to be met with the voice of his past love.
"Where were you?" Laural asks him, her purse on her shoulder as she walks up to him. Papa turns around and faces her with a blank face. He sighs.
"What are you doing here?" he whispers to try and not wake me.
"I heard about the shooting, and I wanted to make sure you were okay," she explains a little fast.
"You did?" he asks.
"Yeah. I knocked on the door, and I found a family terrified for you. They had noo idea where you were," she explains, pleading for him to tells her.
"Oh."
"Oliver, are you so self-centered that you don't think that people who care about you are going to wonder where you are after you all got shot at?"
"You're right."
"I made peace with your selfishness a long time ago. But Moira, Thea, and Walter they don't deserve that. They deserve better. Someone who doesn't care only about himself."
"Laural. Thank you for coming."
"I care about the lives of other people, Oliver. Maybe you should try it sometime."
"Oh, man," Oliver says.
"That was harsh," Thea says coming up behind him. "You, okay?"
"Sure. Second time tonight, that a friend of mine has taken me to the woodshed. It kind of tired you out."
"Yeah."
"Goodnight," Papa tells Miss Thea before heading up the stairs. Thea doesn't ask where he was, even if she wanted to.
