"Do-do yo-you wannna tr-try it first?" I asked Miss Moira shyly. She smiled, happy at the question and spending time with me.
"Of course. Now which one should I try?" she asked looking at the brownies and cookies. Before I answer I wiggle off the counter and over to the freezer. Miss Raisa showed it to me, well I followed her and found the ice cream here. I opened it and looked around at the food in there. It was a little overwhelming but I looked around. "Now, what are you grabbing?"
I finally saw it. But it was at the top of the shelf, where I couldn't reach. I thought about it for a second before grabbing a stool and dragign it over. I climbed up on it, the stool shaking a little. I jumped on the stool still to short to grab the ice cream. Miss Moira saw what I was doing and came over, and helping me down before grabbing the ice cream. It was vanilla. Yay!!
"Ic-ice cre-cream with the-them," I said with a smile. She smiled after before gretting an ice cream scoop and running it under hot water. She then got a bowl and scoop it into the two bowls. I grabbed a brownie and a cookie, and put them ontop of the ice cream. I looked at it with a big smile. Ice cream was so yummy. Oh, I wonder if Malachi likes ice cream too? Oh, I get to go to his house tomorrow! We can play that racing game he was talking about. The one he played with one of his brothers.
"Now. Yo-you try I-it," I said, watching as she used a spood the pt some ice cream on the brownie and trying it. A look of awe went on her face.
"This is very good," she said, waiting till she was almost done swallowing it before talking. My smile grew brighter as she took another bite.
"Yay!!!! Can-can we save so-some for Pa-papa?" I asked a little giddy. Her face lightened at the idea.
"How about we give some to Walter and Thea, too," she offers. I thought about it for a moment before shrugging my shoulders and nodding.
"And Miss Raisa. Oh an-and Mal-Malachi," I said, thinking of all the people to give them too. She laughed.
It was almost past dark when Papa finally came back. I sat up waiting. I spent most of the day with Miss Moira. It was a little after lunch when Miss Raisa came to get me for lunch. Afterwards we spent the time reading. It was hard, all the words kept floating off the page then mixing around before I could read them. Then I played with a car Malachi gave me while watching TV. When it was bed time I wanted Papa to put me to bed. I wanted to know that he was okay. So I waited. Not doing anything. I got bored after a few minutes, so I looked around the room. There were books I wanted to try and read but it wouldn't work for me. Miss Raisa thought I was asleep so she left. I walked over to the room, carrying a book I grabbed and opened the door, walking down the hall to Miss Thea's room. The door was cracked open a little, I opened it furthur and walked quietly in.
It took a moment to realize to Miss Thea that I was in here. It wasn't till I was sitting on the foot of the bed, staring at her until she saw me. She gasped and almost fell off the bed as she looked up from her phone.
"Gosh, wow you are quiet," she said, sitting up from her laying postion. She looked at the time on her phone then at me again. "Aren't you supposed to be in bed? It's like 10 something."
I just shrugged my shoulders.
"Wh-what ar-are you do-doing?" I asked quietly. She looked at me before sighing, she looked tired, dark bags under her eyes.
"I'm on social media," she says, not specifying what. I looked at the book I was holding and showed it to her.
"Ca-can you he-help me? I can-can't re-read it," I stutter out. She gives me questioning look before signaling for me to come over. She took the book out of my grip and looked at the title.
"It says, 'Le Morte D'Arthur, by Thomas Malory'," she read allowed, not knowing her brother had this book.
"'Th-the de-death o-of Ar-Arthur," I repeated in English. She looked at me. I shrugged. It was French. When Papa was with ARGUS all I could do was learn, so I learned new languages. They also told me I had dys-dys. Dys lexi. Dys, dys lexia. Dyslexia. Yeah.
"How did you know that?" she asked. I shrugged, not giving an answer. She shrugged it off aswell, looking back to the book.
"Ca-can yo-you rea-read it, pl-please?" I asked her. She thought for a moment before nodding. I crawled up to her, sitting next to her as she read. (I haven't actually read the book, it's just a book about the adventures of Arthur, Guinevere, Merlin and the knights of the round table. I don't own it. ) She opened the book and started the first page. I slowly fell asleep as she read, following along with the words, trying to decipher them.
3d Person
Oliver came home late that night. He came into his room expecting Lizzie to be there, either waiting on the bed or asleep on top of the covers. But when he didn't see her, he felt a panic rise in his chest. He looked around the room and adjoining rooms for her, to see if she was hiding. When he saw nothing he started going down the hallway. He walked past Thea's room, noticing the door was slightly ajar. He looked inside, the panic gone and replaced with the slightest of smiles of relief and happiness that the two were getting along.
Lizzy was sleeping with her head on Thea's arm. Thea's head was against the headboard, a book in her lap. They both were asleep, and both looked peaceful. Oliver walked in quietly and grabbed a blanket from a chair and put it over Thea. He gently picked the book and put it on the nightstand, then he softly picked up his daughter before leaving the room and closing the door.
