Tuesday morning at school~

Rinas POV
Something is still off with Lonnie. Yes she's smiling, laughing and all that happy crap but she seems different.

"Yow, Rina. Let's go somewhere after school" she beamed with a smile, trying to convince me it was a real one.

"Sure, where are we going?"

"You'll see" she snickered and began rummaging her bag for books for math. I sighed and the teacher came in. Ugh stupid classes, I wish it was a holiday. I kept staring at Lonnie for the whole class and figuring out what she was thinking about but I couldn't for some random reason. This kid is smart and probably doesn't want me creeping in her thoughts.

"Rin? Could you stop staring at me like that?" She said as she continued doing that paperwork the teacher gave her. I still eyed her suspiciously though

"Fine" I tried focusing on the board infront but I my mind was somewhere else. With the teacher lecturing about integers and what not, the bell rang indicating it was second period, Speech.  Our classmates went out to their lockers with me and Lonnie trailing behind. I poofed up some gummies and gave some to her

"Thanks." She said as she took the pack. She didn't even open it. I sighed as we got our things and headed back to the classroom. We sat down and waited for our Speech teacher to come in.

"Michael, she isn't coming" Ron said

"Why?" Michael asked. With confused glances, Lonnie and I joined in their conversation

"Who's not coming?" Lonnie asked as leaned in for her to hear properly.

"The teacher. I heard, she was sick today." Ron replied

"And where did you get that from?" Lonnie doubted. I was still quiet though, letting their conversation consume me

"My friend from the other class told me since it was Speech in their first period"

"I wonder who's the substitute?" Michael said which lead to Lonnie nodding at their statements. Their conversation was dropped when the door opened. The three of them straightened out their chairs and things as Teacher Jasmine came in. Teacher Jasmine is pretty strict and the only exemption was Lonnie. I sighed.

"I'd be your substitute for today on Speech and since English is next to this subject, I'd be here for both hours." Teacher Jasmine said as groans were heard. She gave us an activity sheet in Speech which was hard. We had a new lesson today in English so I better pay attention. Lonnie who wasn't new to the lesson, slightly just stared at the window leaving a worried teacher. Once she was done explaining, it was time for an activity, great. Only 2 people could mostly get the answer right was Lonnie and the top 2 which is Ethan. Usually, she'd make it more fun but this time she just handed us 2 whole papers with questions on it. Luckily, it was by pair, so as usual, Lonnie and I were partners. In a blink of an eye, we were done. I went to the teacher to pass the paper. Before I could turn around and go back to my seat. She called me

"Yes?" I quietly said. It was making me anxious. Did I do something bad? Are my grades really that lo-

"Relax, you're not in trouble" she said calming me. Phew.

Teacher Jasmines POV
She didn't look tensed anymore. Students sure are tensed when they're around me, huh.

"Is Lonnie doing any better? I asked. Rina hesitated.

"To be honest, I'm not sure myself. She seemed happy when she came in this morning but I can tell something is bothering her." She said as she sighed.

"Do you know anything? Or is it a personal matter?" I asked with hope in my tone

"Sadly, no. The last time she was truly happy was on camping. I think it's personal."
