One in a million

-Colby's pov-

"How's your band?" I asked Gage as we buckled up our seatbelts, Gage was my older brother and I really missed him, "It's going great actually, we have had loads of gigs at the moment and we are in the process of making a new song" he replied as he started his blue Toyota.

"I'm glad that dad is ok" I said quietly but loud enough so he could hear me "Me too Colby, if I'm being honest I didn't know if you would come or not". I sighed and scratched my forehead before resting it on the car window, I had told my parents and Gage that Kat was in hospital but I hadn't told them about y/n. "Yeah I'm sorry about that but I was just scared but Sam convinced me".

The rest of the drive was fun as we jammed out to Gages band and our favourite childhood songs.

-Time skip-

We pulled up outside the house that I grew up in, my heart warmed as all my childhood memories came rushing back to me.

We got out the car and headed inside, my parents were already here so I didn't wait to go in.

I walked into the kitchen to see my Mum making coffee "Hey my Colby bear" she said engulfing me in a hug "Hey Mummy" I missed her hugs, I took a long breath in through my nose and cradled her scent. "Where's Dad?" I asked pulling away and sitting on a kitchen stool, I fiddled with my rings as I admired all the family pictures on the walls. "He's in the sitting room" she replied as she picked up 3 cups off coffee, "let me help" I got up off the stool and took 2 cups off her, she smiled at me before kissing me on the cheek and heading into the sitting room.

I followed and handed my Dad and Gage their coffees "thank you" the said in unison. I sat down next to my Dad on the couch, we all caught up and gossiped about our lives.

"Have you seen Sam's new Youtube video?" Gage randomly asked before grabbing the tv remote, my parents both shook their heads as I turned back to face Gage and shook my head as well. A smirk came across his face as he turned the tv on and got Sam's new Youtube video up on screen.

I looked over to my parents who were watching the screen carefully, I turned to Gage who was smiling at me and raising his eyebrows. I scrunched my face before turning to the tv, my heart skipped a beat when I saw y/ns face, I missed her so much, I missed her soft and calming voice and her gentle touch.

When the video ended I kept my eyes on the screen but could see my parents staring at me from the corner of my eye, I turned to face them and put on a serious face "What?" I asked confused, why were they looking at me like this? "She's pretty isn't she?" My Dad asked leaning back in his chair "yes she is very pretty why?" I leant forward and interlocked my hands together "Colby is there something you want to tell us?" My mum asked me looking at the tv and back at me.

Ugh Gage was so annoying, as I got up I playfully hit his arm and walked into the middle of the room. I took a deep breath before running my hands through my hair "Ok basically that girl in the video is Sam's other best friend, apparently she went to the same school as Sam and I. She works at the movie theatres with Sam, and the first night I met her was when we filmed this video" I turned and pointed to the paused video on the tv, "I don't know what it is but when I'm around her I feel so nervous but also so comfortable. I took her to a waterfall the day after your heart attack" I pointed to my Dad before scratching the back of my head and folding my arms. "I told her how scared I was and how I wanted to come out here to be with you but I didn't want to delay filming with Sam". My legs were getting tired so I sat down on the bean bag behind me. "She told me that Sam was my best friend and that family is more important than a YouTube video and that Sam would want me to come and see you".

My parents looked at each other whispering things I couldn't hear, I looked over to Gage who was smiling at me, I slyly jokingly flipped him off before turning back to face my parents who were now looking at me waiting for me to continue.

"So you know how Kat is in hospital?" They all nodded their heads without saying anything, "well Kat needed to get a donor before the end of the week, and Sam was upset and ended up yelling at y/n when she was trying to comfort him. She ended up walking out the room without saying anything, Sam tried to chase after her but I stopped him. Anyway it turns out that she went to go and find Kat's doctor to see if she was a match, and guess what she was!" I clapped my hands together as they sat there in silence wanting to hear the next bit.

"She said she would do it no matter what. Anyway I really like this girl so I took her on a small date, we watched some Netflix, she helped me pack my clothes for the trip here, and we played hide and seek."

"She also drove me to the airport, she honestly is the sweetest person ever and to be honest Mum and Dad I think I love her" I watched as their faces lit up as they looked at each other. My mum jumped up with excitement and threw her arms up and pulled me into a hug. My Dad also walked over and gave me a hug "I'm proud of you" he whispered in my ear which bought a tear to my eye. Gage followed "dude I thought she was just hot I didn't know you liked her" I laughed at his statement before giving him a hug.

We all sat back down when my phone rang, I stood up and walked into the kitchen it was Sam. "Hey dude what's up?" I asked playing with my helix piercing "Hey dude, how are you?" Sam asked slowly "I'm good brother, my dad has been released from hospital. How's things back there?" Sam didn't reply, did something happen?! Or maybe he's just thinking, I waited another minute before I could tell something was up, "Sam what's wrong?!" My whole body filled with fright as my heart started to race so fast that I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. "Kat and y/n were rushed down to the operation theatre Kat's ok but y/n hasn't woken up. It's been 4 days". I felt a lump form in my throat and my legs weaken, my eyes started stinging as tears flooded my eyes, I think I finally found the love of my life but this.

My blood started to boil "WHAT?! SAM WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?! I'm booking a flight back right now" I yelled as I sat on the kitchen stool before my legs collapsed. "Colby listen, I wanted to tell you I honestly did but y/n made me promise because she wanted you to stay with your family. I hated lying to you, I know I can't stop you from coming back, text me when your flight is and I'll pick you up from the airport." I took a deep breath in and calmed myself down before replying, "I'm sorry for yelling Sam I'll see you soon" I sighed and grabbed my head with my free hand, "okay see you soon brother" he replied quietly, I didn't respond I just hung up.

I sat in the kitchen for a while before walking back into the sitting room my parents looked up at me and a worried expression washed over their faces "Colby what's wrong?" My mum asked getting up and walking over to me, "I-I-she" I collapsed to the floor crying.

My mum knelt down beside me as I sobbed clutching my chest, "She's one in a million, I can't lose her" I cried so hard that I started to hyperventilate and go dizzy. The next thing I know everything went black.
