We appear in my bedroom I open the door and run down the stairs my dad sits at the table staring at the news paper with his hands wrapped around a coffee mug. "Dad?" I say he looks up and his face fills with joy "Alexis?" He stands up and hugs me "I missed you." I say he pulls away and cups my face with his hands "I missed you to." I smile and he lets me go. Jack walks down the stairs "so I guess this isn't a forever stay?" I shake my head "only a year but We only have to go back for a day or two." He smiles.
"Well jack welcome to the family." He says shaking jacks hand jack smiles "thank you sir." My dad laughs. "Call me Peter." Jack shakes his head "okay peter." We all laugh "well dad can I have some of your infamous oatmeal." He smiles "of course hunny." We sit at the table and eat. My dad sits quietly "so dad what's been going on?" He looks up "well Lexi there is a couple of things you need to know." My stomach twists into knots.
"Alexis you have an older brother that you mom never told anyone about." My jaw drops "wait what?" He shakes his head "I'm sorry Lexi." I shake my head and stand up. "So she left us to take care of someone else?" I slam my hands on the table "it's not fair." My dad stands up "I know Alexis I'm sorry." I walk over to my dad and hug him tight tears soaking his shoulder. "No matter what your always gonna be my favorite person." I pull back and smile and he brushes the hair out of my face.
"Your gonna do good things kiddo." He says smiling "we didnt need her before so we don't need her now." I shake my head and smile. I walk up the stairs and open my laptop "what are you doing?" Jack says sitting next to me. "I'm gonna find my brother I at least want to know him." I say jack shakes his head. "I could understand that." I kiss his cheek "now help me." I laugh and he kisses my cheek "okay." And I type quickly on the keyboard.
"Well I can't find him." I say I lay my head on the keyboard and jack grabs my head and raises it up slowly "your making the screen do weird things." I look at the screen at the words 'aaaaaaaaaabbffk.' Across the screen. "I just need to know why he was so special she left us to take care of him." Jack grabs my hands "no one is better than you." He says he kisses my hand I smile "thank you jack." I say.
