Thalia (1)
"The Fire Nation controls the Western Lake. Rumor has it they're working on something big on the other side and they don't want anyone to find out what it is."
Far away on the lake, there was a Fire Navy Ship. We walked passed it carefully but quickly.
"Here, walk in front of me." Sokka grabbed my arm and put me in front of him. I looked at him with my brow raised. "For what?"
"It'll just make me feel better." He shrugged. "Can you see okay?" He pointed to my wrap on my eye.
"I can see just fine." I nodded. I turned around to continue walking, but Sokka had grabbed me by my waist to pull me back.
"Ah!" The path Than walked over gave out, making him start to fall over the edge. Toph quickly bended a rock a few feet under, catching him. He was back on the path unscathed.
But the rocks that fell down to the lake caught the attention of the men on the ship.
"They spotted us!" Sokka warned. "Let's go! Let's go!"
The ship begins to fire at us, but Aang was able to redirect it back to them. We all started to run down the path now.
They continue to fire and one hits at the rocks above us. Rocks begin to tumble down and I can feel Sokka shield himself over me.
Toph makes a barrier over us and the rocks slide down.
"Are you okay?" Sokka grabbed my shoulders and inspected all around me. "I thought you said you could see!"
"Thanks, Sokka." I move away from him and rush to Toph. "I owe you one." I put my hand on her back and we caught up to the others.

We start to make camp once the sun began to set. I watched Than massage his wife's feet with a smile. It reminded me of how my parents acted when my mother was pregnant.
"Why are you sad?"
I turned my head and Toph was seated next to me on her blanket. I shook my head, "I'm just reminiscing."
"Do you miss your parents?" She asked me.
"Not necessarily." I shrug. "Just miss the thought of them."
"Makes sense." Toph nodded.
Suddenly, she turned straight ahead and I followed. Sokka widened his eyes before quickly looking back down at the fire wood in front of him.
"Someone was staring." Toph smirked at me.
I furrowed my brows. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
She shakes her head in disappointment, "And somehow I'm the blind one? It's obvious that ponytail has a thing for eyepatch here."
Other than the name Toph referred to me as, I could feel my stomach flip. But it in a good way.

The moon was already out and we were getting ready for bed. It was a nice night luckily - the stars shined and the air felt good.
I looked around for Sokka who was just here moments ago fixing the camp fire. I don't remember seeing him get up and leave.
"He went that way." Toph pointed behind her with her thumb. "He's alone, too."
I scoffed, "I was just looking at the fire - making sure it was still... lit."
"Sure." She shrugged then sat down beside me.
She began to pick at her toes- focused on what she found in there. I scooted a little away from her before getting up quickly and going in the direction she pointed.
I found Sokka seated on a large flat rock while looking up at the moon. I slowly made my over to his side, "Boo."
When he caught sight of me, a faint smile appeared on his face.
I pointed down next to him. "Can I sit?"
"Oh, yeah." He scooted over a bit and I sat down. The rock was cold underneath, sending me small chills.
"Have you ever lost someone important to you?" He was staring up at the sky. The stars reflected on his eyes and I kept my gaze on them.
"A few."
Sokka turned to face me slowly. "What's your story, Thalia?"
I looked away from him because the eye contact made me nervous. "I had a little brother, Tobi. He died a few years ago."
"I'm sorry." He said. "How'd he die?"
"He got really sick. It was... slow and sad and one of the worst years of my life." I nodded slowly. "But he was always positive about everything, which pissed me off sometimes. But it was one of the things I loved most about him. After he died I started to go against my parents. I got into a lot of trouble and got involved with a bad group. My parents had to bail me out of a lot of stuff and it was easy because of our name.
One night, my mom and I were arguing and it blew up quick. Next thing I knew, my mom had slammed my face against a mirror. I have this around my eye because I lost some vision in it, and the scar kinda scares people. Anyway, my dad finally had enough and on my thirteenth birthday, he dropped me off to my uncle and I haven't seen them since."
"Wow." Sokka eyes were slightly widened but they narrowed after a second. "I'm sorry."
"Everything happens for a reason."
He sighed. "Yeah, right."
"What do you mean?"
"Nothing." He shook his head. "I just... I'm thinking about my sister."
"Katara?"
"No. Ruka."
"What are you thinking?" I asked him.
"That I miss her. That I want to see her. Knowing her, she thinks I hate her right now. But I don't. I want to tell her that I love her. I want her to explain to me why she chose Zuko so that I could understand better. But I hope she's okay and that she'll find her way back to us soon."
I slightly smiled then gently placed my hand on his wrist. "I think she knows what she's doing. Something about her is... special."
Sokka chuckled. "I hope you get to really meet her soon. I think you two would get along."
"I hope so, too." I smiled.
Sokka was back to giving me straight eye contact. I felt him leaning over by the warmth of his body getting closer to me.
My heart was racing and my stomach was fluttering. I almost felt like throwing up, but decided that would definitely kill this moment-
"It's getting late... I'll see you in the morning." Sokka stood up quickly. I felt my body weigh down and I couldn't help feel sad.
"Yeah, sure." I nodded slowly. "Goodnight."
I watched him walk away and disappear behind the large rocks. I looked up at the moon and rolled my eyes. "Don't mock me."
