Thalia (1)

"So, what do you want to do today?" I asked Toph as I picked at a rose from a rose bush.

She shrugged, "Same thing we do everyday."

I groaned, "I wish your parents weren't so... your parents."

"Oh stop complaining. At least mine care about me."

Toph and I glared at each other before erupting into laughter. Yes, maybe it was harsh, but I only let Toph tease me in that way and she knows it.

"Wait-" She rose her finger to my lips to shut me up. "-people are coming."

We waited for a few seconds, not saying anything. This was until Toph slammed her foot the ground and various screams were heard. Two people landed in the rose bushes just next to me, while a guy landed on the floor.

Toph walked over to a boy that landed on a rose bush, his attire consisted of a variety of orange and yellow. "What are you doing here twinkle toes?"

"That's twinkle toes?" I asked while pointing to the boy. "Hm, makes sense."

"How'd you know it was me?" Twinkle toes asked. The guy who still laid flat on the floor scolded twinkle toes, "Don't answer to 'twinkle toes!' It's not manly!"

"You're the one who's bag matches his belt." A girl who landed in the other rose bush retorted. I couldn't help but snicker.

"How did you find me?" Toph asked. While the boy and girl who's attire was of the Water Tribes, twinkle toes lifted himself up with air. He's an Airbender!

"Well, a crazy king told me I had to find an earth bender who listens to the Earth. And then I had a vision in a magic swamp and-"

I lifted my hand up to stop him. "Enough. That has nothing to do with Toph." A

"What Aang is trying to say is, he's the Avatar. And if he doesn't master Earth bending soon, he won't be able to defeat the Fire Lord." The water tribe girl interposed.

This Aang is the Avatar?!

Toph rose her hand up to the girls face, "Not my problem. Now get out of here, or I'll call the guards!" Toph grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from the trio.

"Look, we all have to do our part to win this war. And yours is to teach Aang earth bending." The Water Tribe guy said. I looked down to Toph who stopped in her tracks. I wondered if she was actually thinking about it.

But that wasn't the case.

"Guards! Guards help!"

The trio scattered away to hide. I nudged Toph with a slight smile as two guards came running toward us. "Toph, Thalia! What happened?!"

"I thought I heard someone," Toph said in her little girly voice she only uses with the guards and her parents. "I got scared and Thalia thought we should call for help."

The guards, who I hadn't cared to learn the names of, looked around while leading us away. "You know your father doesn't want you wandering the grounds without supervision, Toph."

The other guard looked to me, "And you know your uncle expects more of you when it comes to Toph. Letting her be out here by herself can get you into trouble."

Toph and I were escorted back to the house and once the guards left, I groaned. "Living here is so annoying."

"There's a door right over there." Toph said, pointing behind her. I pouted, "Oh, you know I wouldn't leave your precious, helpless side."

She shoved me with a smile and I did the same back. Our little fun was interrupted when one of the servants walked in. "Excuse me Toph, your father has ordered to see you."

Toph nodded and began to walk out of the room with me trailing behind. They told Toph to sit down next to her earth bending teacher, Master Yu. My uncle began to talk about her private lessons and nothing dangerous and blah, blah, blah. I stood next to my aunt with my hands behind my back.

Their conversation ended when the same servant from earlier came in and told my uncle that he had a visitor.

"Who thinks they are so important they can just come to my home unannounced?!"

"Uh, the Avatar, Sir."

My attention averted to Toph and hers to me. She frowned and blew a strand of her from her face. "Excuse me Uncle, Toph and I are going to get washed up before meeting the Avatar."

He nodded, "Hurry back. Oh, and make sure the floor is dry. We don't want her slipping."

I forced a smile, "Of course not, Uncle."

I placed my hand on her back and rushed out of the room. Once we were in the bathroom, I shut the door and turned back to her. Our conversation consisted of us whisper-yelling. "Why is he here?!"

"You think I know?"

I snapped my fingers, "A teacher! He needed a teacher!" I gasped, "You don't think he'll tell your dad about you?! He's going to tell him your the Blind Bandit!"

"No he won't. And I'll make sure of it."
