Olivia slumped back against her headboard. She took a dramatic sigh as she looked at the time on her phone. 2.30 am. Her brain was wired, there was no way she was getting to sleep now. This case she was working on with Carol, it wouldn't let her rest. It wasn't a pretty one, it involved a child and lack of care and two questionable parents. And for the first time during all her time with Carol, she was questioning her. She didn't trust either of the parents, while Carol believed the mother was a fit guardian, it's who they were representing. Their job was to give her full custody of the child. But Liv couldn't rest, her gut told her that wasn't right. She didn't trust the mother, and she didn't know why.
She instead got up from bed, shutting her laptop. Turning to coffee. Because that's going to help her sleep, she sarcastically thought to herself. She sat down in front of the tv, the volume down low, to avoid waking Abby. And chose to watch some fresh prince until she eventually fell asleep.
"Liv?" Abby shook her. It was 9 am. She was lucky she had a late start today. Because if it was a normal day she would be extremely late and Carol does not like late. Liv stretched as she woke. "God did I sleep here all night?"
"Looks like it. You good Liv?" Abby asked. Liv nodded. "Yeah just work it's a lot right now. I don't know what to do, I don't know if we're on the right side of this case." Abby understood that, she often found herself in situations like that given her area of work. "The one with the kid right, the custody battle."
"Yeah, I just don't trust the mother. She's our client I know, so I should. But Abby I don't. And I don't want to question Carol, I don't have that kind of privilege to do that yet, I'm way too inexperienced to do that."
"Liv your gut, it's never wrong. I think you should look into your side first. Figure out more. Then think about bringing it to Carol, if it's keeping you up at night, it's definitely a cause for question." Olivia knew Abby was right. She would feel worse if she ignored it, and just went along with everything. She didn't take this job to do that, she did it for the opposite reason. Give justice to those who deserve it. "I might ask Fitz you know. He gave me his number for this. Do you think I should?"
Abby smirked. "Definitely." Liv rolled her eyes. "Ab I'm serious, he's really good, and very well respected, he knows his shit. It might help." Abby nodded. "No seriously I agree. It will be good to get help outside of Carol's environment, a clean opinion. I'm sure he's done hundreds of these cases, he definitely would have something to say."
Liv agreed. He wouldn't have given her his number, if he didn't want to help. He was kind, she knew he would be more than happy to do so. "I'll see you later okay? I'll bring home pasta for dinner." Abby said making her way to the door, Liv waved and headed to her room to get dressed. She finally picked up the phone and dialled his number. "Hello, Fitz Grant."
Olivia smiled, even his greetings sounded sweet. "Fitz, hi it's Olivia. I'm not interrupting you am I?" She asked. "Liv hey, how are you? Of course not at all." His voice was so hot. She silently condemned herself from thinking about that. "Okay good.. I'm just a little upside down with work, I just am wondering could you listen or help or whatever?" She cringed.
"Liv of course! If you want I can meet you for coffee, or we can over the phone, whatever you want?"
"Coffee sounds great, you just tell me when you're free and that will be perfect, I don't want to put you out of your way." She said. "Don't be silly, well when are you on break?"
"Well I have a pretty easy day today, I can do any time after 12." She only had two hours today, her only easy day throughout her week. "That's perfect for me, I'll see you at 12 then? Bean house? That's near you right?"
"Yeah it's just down the road. That's great. Thank you so much Fitz. I really appreciate it." He hushed her quickly. "Hey, no need to thank me, I'm happy to. You're not totally boring you know." He teased, making her laugh. "You are not boring either."
