Ember Anala was well...pissed. Anyways that was the word she used for it, but than later couldn't stop apologizing for cussing.

Lucas carried Ember out of the cabin and into a different cabin adjacent to the one they left. That was the first thing that pissed Ember off. She had feet and could walk and honestly, she was stuck here anyways. Ash's death forced Ember to see what she had been missing before. People weren't meant to be alone and sometimes they had to ask for help.

The cabin they went into was empty. Ember wriggled around in Lucas's arms, trying to break free.

"Okay, so here is as good as anywhere, I suppose." Lucas mumbled under his breath.

"Yeah man, this is the best we've got as far as the setting." Jared agreed. It was safe to say that Ember had no clue what they were talking about.

Lucas set Ember down on the dirty floor none too gently. Jerk.

"Listen, Ember, I'm going to open your mouth and you're gonna' drink this." Lucas held up a little clear bottle with a bright blue liquid swishing around in it.

Ember was going to wait and fight when the time was right.

Lucas ripped the duct tape of Ember's mouth causing her to wince in pain.

"You're just like all the other jerks I've met! Well, I'm DONE!" Ember yelled. She used all of her energy to catapult forward into Lucas's legs. The surprising force took Lucas down and Ember brought her head down into his gut. Hard.

Two hands grabbed Ember's arms and hauled her away from Lucas. It was Jared.

"You found a real charmer, Lucas." Jared sniggered, still holding Ember.

"Didn't I?" Lucas breathed heavily. he said this while sending daggers at Ember with his eyes. Ember smiled in satisfaction. Ember: 1 Lucas: well, 3, she supposed.

"Chill, Ember." Jared said softly, "We aren't out to get you or to use you in some way. Well kinda, but that's beside the point. The drink is something Lucas created and it reveals a person's strengths and weaknesses and knowledge on a particular subject."

"I can see why you wouldn't want to drink it." Lucas interjected. "Combined with the fact that I've only tested it on two other people."

Ember let out a hollow laugh. "Now I'm not sure if you're trying to kill me, recruit me, or help me."

"I'm not going to lie. We want you to join The Rebellion. Our goal is to stop Helvna's ruler from conquering anyone else."

Ember was shocked. Lucas and Jared didn't know that Dune, the ruler of Helvna, was her brother. They also didn't know that she too was trying to stop him.

"I'm willing to compromise." Ember said. "My goal actually happens to be the same as The Rebellion's, but I'm going about it a different way. I'll drink your little potion, no matter the side effects, and join The Rebellion on a few conditions."

"Name them." Lucas said instantly. He needed this strange, mysterious girl.

"One, you accept who I am and my practices. This means that you respect the fact that I have secrets and my own way of going about things. Two, I can leave whenever I want. Three, you don't question the knowledge I have or how I know it."

Lucas thought a moment before agreeing to Ember's terms. They were mysterious and rather random, but it's not like he was agreeing to something that would destroy The Rebellion.

"Oh, one more thing!" Ember added, "I can talk to any stranger that may come here." Ember was, of course, thinking of Darkett when she said this.

"Okay." Lucas said. "I guess it's time for you to meet The Rebellion and learn about it."
