Hilana was outside the herbal hall listening in with her head lowered. 'I'm sorry, princess. I'm truly sorry however I can't bear myself to replace her highness. I can't be the one you want me to be.' Hilana let out a sigh feeling a little light-headed. 'You aren't a weakling. Quit behaving like a zyar(1).' A faint voice whispered in the back of Hilana's head, almost like a quiet echo. A low female voice that sounded similar to Hilana's. Hilana shook her head thinking it was a headache. 'I must be too tired.' Hilana gently knocked on the door and waited for a moment before going in. Lyer sat in a chair with Dia sitting on his arm and her head rested on his shoulder, quietly asleep. "I brought the bandages." Hilana whispered wrapping Dia's wounds.
"Why did you tell her that?" Lyer asked looking at Hilana.
"Was I wrong to say the truth? I'm unable to give them what they desire and I mustn't have them rely upon me for that. What they seek...only your majesty can give it to them. Your majesty is the only one left for them no matter how much you deny it." Hilana whispered to Lyer and he balled his hands.
"Then there weak, useless, sentimental, stupid pergots that cling for safety. If they can't survive on their own then there not intended to survive." Lyer's tone had shifted from cold and emotionless to slightly raised and heated. "Being emotional is meaningless when you're faced with an army of thousands, dangers that aim for your life, deceptive betrayals where you don't have a choice in the matter." Lyer glared at Hilana with his pupils dilated to a sharper oval. His red eyes seemed to turn in color like fire. Hilana felt her whole body quake and tremble in the most terrifying sensation ever. Her body and mind both know, at any moment her life can end with something even worse than fear can describe. "I deny nothing. What they need to rely on are their selves, not someone to carry their hand and indulge them. As their king, I am responsible for all my subjects' lives and well-being. As a father, I expect them to learn and grow through their own means. Although you have disappointed me...I believed you of all would understand. It appears I was wrong in my belief." Lyer said clenching his fist.
Hilana closed her eyes mustering up as much courage she can get with her tremblings hands and chaotic mind. A moment of silence filled the room, Hilana spoke up after opening her eyes and showing a more determined but still frightened look. "It appears I have overstepped my boundaries, your majesty. I sincerely apologize for my lack of position. I will keep in mind to hold myself at where I stand." Hilana kneeled with her head lowered. "I will accept any punishment that your majesty deems necessary but I must stand by what I said earlier...for you, the princess, and the prince." Hilana grabbed her dress tightly with her hands trembling non-stop. Lyer looked at Hilana and thought of her as truly pitiful. He got up from his seat carrying Dia in his hands and walked to the door.
"You're in no position to speak your concerns. Remember where you stand and to who you speak before. I am not to be made lightly of." Lyer said glancing back at Hilana. Hilana just kneeled there unable to move an inch. Lyer lightly scowled at Hilana and clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white. "Punishing you will only be a waste of time," Lyer said coldly to Hilana who still had her head lowered. "Punishment is given to only those who are willing to accept their wrongs. You are an obstinate fool who's blinded by sentiment." Lyer stated with a hint of malice in his words. He looked at Dia's back and listened to her calm breathing, then relaxed ever so slightly. "She'll be staying at the Syva(2) palace from here on. This discussion will end here. Never bring this up before me." Lyer said walking out the herbal hall and carried Dia along with him.
Once Lyer was gone Hilana collapsed onto the floor gasping for air. Her body refused to calm down and continued to tremble. 'I need to keep in mind that he's a king and a demon. I need to remember, I need to realize that my life is in his hands.' Hilana remembered the words Lyer had told her and she balled her hands. 'I'm such a fool just like he said. A complete and utter fool.' Hilana slowly got up using her hands but they collapsed under her weight and she fell back onto the floor. "I'm not like him. I'm just a dasvn(3)...I don't belong here. I can't do anything right. I'm just a dasvn." Hilana whispered out closing her eyes. 'You are you and no one else. If you want to change something then do it even if it's wrong or right. After all, there won't be a second chance to live out what you want, and if something gets in your way just get rid of it.' Those words echoed in Hilana's opened her eyes, mind settling down and calming her trembling body. "She makes it sound so easy." Hilana couldn't help but laugh lightly.
