The Ocean

George trailed behind me, both of us chasing after Dream. Or whoever he was. I doubt Dream is his real name. Why would someone be named Dream? It sounds mysterious though.

George trailed behind me. Sometimes managing to catch up. He wasn't the fastest of the two of us but he could probably survive better- not of skill though.

George may be worse at combat which I mean is fair. I used to play a lot of minecraft combat games and George... well, I think he usually played first person shooter games or something. I turn behind, waving George to catch up. We were nearing a cliff with an ocean right below, He seemed like he was going to jump around a corner- something that was difficult- and needed a lot of training to even learn. I never thought it'll be useful and apparently these speedrunners are also highly skilled. He probably has wood from the village. We should be careful and not let him craft. I slow George down.

"George, I think he got wood before we arrived at the village so he'll be able to make tools. I think he'll jump around the corner of the cliff, let's just try to follow him and punch him off."

"That's not a bad idea. After all, it's two against one."

With our makeshift plan in place, we get ready to put it into action. Dream runs up the cliff- it looked more like a hill though. Maybe because we were already high up. We follow. He seems to have not noticed us yet but we try to still be as quiet as we could.

As expected, Dream jumps around the corner of the cliff. We follow but unexpectedly, as we turn the corner, Dream hits us off. With a lot of space above our heads, we take knockback and fall off the cliff. Since George had jumped first, he was hit off immediately. I had jumped from above him but I unfortunately was in the midst of jumping when he was hit off. Luckily, we both landed in the water.

Determined to not give up, we tried again- hoping for different results. He crafts a crafting table and is probably crafting some wooden tools at the moment. Well, now would be a great time to tell us we're chasing the wrong person. As we climbed the mountain again. Dream leaves his crafting table, jumps into the water and swims. Dream? More like Nightmare. Never would I have thought that someone named "Dream" could be such a nightmare to deal with.

Snapping me out of my thoughts was a splash, I looked down the mountain to see George swimming after Dream. Ah. I'd probably have to save George again later from dying. George is brave but he is incredibly dumb. Well, at least to me, he usually jumps headfirst into things and doesn't really think about the consequences. I rolled my eyes and jumped in with him.

The two hunters followed me on my tail. Oh well, they're probably expecting me to just give up from exhaustion. Little do they know, I had even the dolphins on my side...

When I was training to be a speedrunner. We learnt to use dolphins in an expected way to help us. Whether it be in a situation like now or when we were just training. Dolphins have a special ability called "Dolphin's Grace" Their ability allows them to swim gracefully through the water- hence the name. A hidden part of that though, is that it affects the dolphin's allies when they are nearby.

In a nutshell, we became friends with the dolphins! Other than their ability, they were gentle creatures and barely fought. Which is why they made allies with other creatures- or humans.

I spotted a pair of nearby dolphins. Perfect. The dolphin's ability stacks so the more dolphins I had the faster I could swim. There was definitely a limit though. I swam near them. I wielded my sword and from behind I heard one of them scream, "HE'S GOT A SWORD" The dolphins spotted me, then, I saw almost invisible light blue particles around me. Those were effect particles. I heard the same voice from before scream, "HE'S GOT TWO DOLPHINS" Unable to control it, I let out a maniac laugh. Ah, whoever decided to send these two idiots after me must be a great person.

Onto the appearance of the particles, they would usually appear when you have used a potion or in this case, get affected by a mob's ability. The colours are different sometimes though. Amber orange is for fire resistance, a vibrant pink for regeneration and an ocean blue for water breathing. Of course there were others but those were just a few of them. We had to learn quite a few of them when we were training to be speedrunners. I'd say a few of us could probably take down the top hunters if they didn't have revival stones. Ah, the times I spent with Illumina and Benex. There were other speedrunners but when I was being trained there, Illumia and Benex were who I trained with. We used to have a scoreboard and there was always a challenge to see who could be the 1st in the speedrun simulation. Ah the memories.

Running out of air, I poked my head out of the water to breathe. I quickly went back underwater and I spotted a shipwreck not far away. I hear the two at the back still bickering about me having the two dolphins on my side. Were these seriously the best hunters? They were like the new speedrunner but less serious. I looked at the shipwreck. Huh, I'll probably have to get one more breath of oxygen before I dive down there. The wooden ship sat lonely on the gravel floor of the ocean. Small fishes were swimming in and out of it. It was almost like a busy city to them. Some sides of the wood were darker than others and some even had moss growing on it. The nearby kelp and seagrass swayed by it.

I got my last breath of oxygen before diving down to loot the shipwreck's treasures. The adventurers were not poor ones. Sometimes they had paper stored in their strong wooden chests or even the heart of the sea. It was a highly valued item, sought out by many people to make conduits. We had one at our base, it let us breathe underwater.

I opened the creaky trapdoors just small enough to fit a person and looted a chest. It had an enchanted piece of armour, some wheat and paper. I took all of it except for the paper- it wasn't really necessary in the situation I was placed in. I wonder how the rest of the speedrunners are doing. I quickly swam to the surface after, lacking air. I underestimated the amount of air I would need. I wish George was here. He helped me through situations that were very intense like this. I'll see when I can send a message to him again. I hope he's okay. Most of all, I hope he's not going after a speedrunner. They can be tough and I don't want him to meet his demise at the hands of a skilled speedrunner.
