Mariela's POV

My mom, Valentina,comes storming into my bedroom. I groan and look at the time. 5:30 am. School doesn't start until 7:15am.
"Mariela! Despierta.Tienes que ir a la escuela." (Wake up. You have to go to school.) I roll my eyes. I make sure she's not facing me before I do that though. I'd get a chancla if she saw.
"Estoy despierto mamà."(I'm awake mom. ) I say. I push back the blanket and get out of bed.
" Limpia la habitación antes de irte."(clean this room before you leave)
"Mhm." I rub my face and go into my closet. I pick out some clothes and rush to the bathroom before my brother or sister go in it. I lock eyes with my brother, Javier. We both stop then rush to the bathroom. He goes inside and slams the door right as I make it there.
"Javi! That's not fair. You knew I was gunna go in there! " I pound my fist on the door.
"Should've been faster gatita. " (Kitten) he laughs.
"Shut up you pinche idiotos! " Daniela yells from her room.(fucking idiots) Her room is right next to the bathroom. We live in the bad part if town in a small 4 bedroom house. It's 2 floors but not including the basement. There's three bedrooms upstairs with 1 bathroom and 1 bedroom downstairs with a connected bathroom Living room and kitchen. Everyone in our family works except for out mom but it's because she doesn't speak English.
"Daniela! ¡No hables así en mi casa!" My mom yells. She comes out if my room probably from cleaning it even though she told me to do it, and goes into Danielas room. I shake my head and go back into my room and start to clean my room until the bathroom is free.

After I finished cleaning my room and getting ready I walked downstairs to eat breakfast. I see my dad, Jesus at the door getting ready to leave.
"¿Te vas sin despedirte?" I ask. (Are you going to leave without saying bye)
" No sabía que estabas despierto."(I didn't know you were awake.) I smile.
" Adiós, papá." He kisses my cheek then disappears out of the door. I check the time . 6:20. Great. Elizabeth is going to be here in 20 minutes. Right then I get a text.

I roll my eyes. Its jamal my boyfriend. We've been dating for 17 months. Our relationship is really toxic and he keeps begging me to take him back so I do. I know it's not healthy but I told him this was his last chance and if he messes up then we're done for good. I open the door and see him parked at the curb. I make sure my mom is still upstairs then close the door behind me. I walk to his car he gets out and walks around to where I'm standing.
"Hey." I cross my arms but dont say anything. He sighs.
"I'm sorry. For last night. You know how my brother is. " I shake my head.
"How do I know you really went to see your brother. I know Ashley goes to that same college. You could've went to see her. " I say. Ashley is his ex girlfriend. They broke up when she graduated last year.
"Ashley? Really? " I nod.
"We broke up. "
"I know you broke up but that doesn't mean you won't hook up with her. "
"Don't you think you'd find out though. It wouldn't be really smart for me to cheat with her because Jaymee is her roommate. " I frown.
"How do you know Jaymee is her roommate.? "I ask.
" My brother hooked up with Jaymee. "He shrugs.
" Ok well... "I trail off.
" I know. I'll see you at school. "He gets in his car and takes off down the road. I roll my eyes. Ashley knows that we were dating but she doesn't know if we're together or not right now. Otherwise if she knew then she wouldn't be with him. I highly believe that he went to see her last night and once I talk to her I'll know for sure. I go inside and eat chorizo and eggs for breakfast.
"Hola." Daniela says.
"Hola. Have you talked to Ash? " I ask her. She takes a water from the fridge and nods.
"Sí. Yesterday before class. Por que? " (Why) I look towards the stairs.
"Jamal left to go meet his brother last night. And I don't believe it. " I move to stand next to her.
"What do you mean? "I raise my eyebrow.
" He went to see Ash. Otherwise how did he know that Jaymee is her roommate? He tried to say that his brother hooked up with Jaymee but Jaymee is with that one guy. "I say.
" Mm yea. I already told you that you need to drop him. Vato ain't worth it. Are you coming to the club with me tonight? "She changes the subject.
" Sí. And you're right. He's not worth it. "She smiles.
" Hey speaking of vatos.. Vato cholos are having a meeting. And your sorta required to come. "I roll my eyes.
" I'm not apart of the cholas."I start.
"Yes you are. It's later in the month so don't worry right now. But where's javi we have to get going. Javi! " She shouts and moves towards the stairs just as my phone beeps.

I'm here. Get your ass outside bitch!!!     Read 6:47 am

I grab my bag and go to the door.
"Adiós mamá! Te amo!"(bye mom I love you. ) I yell before slamming the door shut. I walk down to the car.
" Bitch! I have something to tell you. "Aniyah, my best friend says the second I close the door.
" Que? "(What? )
" Jaymee called last night a-"I cut her off.
"And she seen Jamal with Ashley I already know. " I say.
"Yea Ashley called me this morning and told me she slept with Jamal last night. I told her that you two were still together. " Dean says from the drivers seat. I lean between the driver and passenger seat.
"Yea. I figured as much. He said that he didn't see her last night. Yet he knew that Jaymee is her roommate. "I lean back and cross my arms.
" What are you going to do? "Dean asks.
" Drop him. For real this time. "I sigh.
" You say that all the time. "Ani says.
" I'm serious this time. "
"You said that last time. " Dean says.
"Whatever. I am officially done with Jamal. I just gotta tell him."
"Are you going to call ash. She was upset. She thinks your pissed at her. " Dean says.
"Sí. I'm not mad. She didn't know. "
"She still slept with your man. "
"It doesn't matter because she didn't know we were together. If she did know then that's different. "Dean parks the car in the schools parking lot. We grab our bags and get out. We start walking to the schools entrance.
" What are you doing tonight? "Dean asks.
" Going to my house as usual. "Aniyah says.
" No, I'm going with Daniela to work tonight. "I say.
"Hey babe. " Jamal comes from behind me and throws his arm around my shoulder. I shrug it off and glare at him.
"We need to talk. " I growl.
