Silver eyes fluttered open to warmth that shouldn't be in a cave during winter. Sitting up she found herself in Till's arms while the other dragons piled on top of each other asleep. The cave itself changed as well. It looked like a paradise compared to before. Flora and other plants covered the walls and floor along with a thick carpet of grass. There was even a mini waterfall overflowing gently three steps before spilling out into a stream leading out of the cave. Instead of frigid wind coming from the opening uptop, a warm breeze blew by every so often. Ceru scratched her head in confusion as to what happened when she was out. Till moved, shaking Ceru loose from her spot and landing on her tush. Green eyes looked down, before disappearing as Till shifted.
"Ceru! You're awake!" Said Till happily as he held her a bear hug.
"Uff. Till can't breath." Squeezed out Ceru.
Till let go enough for her to breath but refused to put her down.
"What happened?" Asked Ceru very confused.
"You were sick with magic overload, Till somehow drew it out of you despite your unconscious state. Then the four of them pulled it out of him and turned this cave into this place." Explained Flake.
The two looked up to see Flake shift before taking a seat next to them.
"Magic overload?" Asked Ceru.
"Do you know anything about magic?" Asked Flake, worried at her lack of knowledge.
"I know that there are mages who can do impossible things with magic." Said Ceru.
Flake sighed and decided to start from the basics.
"Everyone has magic. Some have a lot while others don't. The weakest, usually humans, either don't have enough magic to cast anything or just enough to help in everyday tasks like starting a fire. While those, like the Neighbors and very rarely human, with more can obliterate deaths of land with a massive fireball. If a mage uses too much magic, they'll get magic exhaustion and too much of that and they could die. You had magic overload, where your core was producing too much magic. In normal cases you would just have to use it and you'll be fine. Of course that's not the case. You have a seal that is preventing you from using it but was supposed to release some of it. Your magic damaged the seal, specifically the part that was supposed to release if it got too much. Another thing is mages can't share their magic if they're unconscious, yet you were able to connect with Till and move the excess to him. Humans aren't made to have that much magic. You break every rule in the book!" Flake ended his rant in frustration.
Ceru only looked at him with a blank expression, telling Flake she did not understand a word that came out of his mouth. With a sigh, Flake told Till to explain it to her until she got it. Green meet silver trying to decide where to start first. Carrying her back to his nook in the cave, Till set her down so she was eye level with him.
"Has anyone done anything magical on you? No matter how small or given you something magical?" Asked Till.
"I don't think so." Said Ceru but it seemed she was unsure.
"I know that look Ceru, spill." Said Till.
"Uh... well I don't remember much before I was five. My parents died in an accident and I was hurt too." Said Ceru.
Till let out a sigh.
"Do you trust me little one?" Asked the dragon.
Ceru nodded.
"I'm going to look at your core to see what kind seal it is and it might hurt." Said Till, reluctant to bring pain to his new friend but didn't want her to fall ill to magic overload again.
"I trust you Till. You were nicest to me." Said Ceru happily.
Hopping up on the rock, he moved her onto his lap before closing his eyes to look inside. Her core was massive for a human and looked like one that belonged to him or his brothers. Not even the Neighbors had such a large core. Her magic was white a stark contrast to his black. Getting closer he watched as a tendril of magic lash out only to hit an invisible barrier before retreating. The seal became visible as it forced her magic to stay close within the core causing her magic to lash out more until submitting. The seal itself was massive and complex but spiderwebs of cracks were highlighted with white light against the black seal. Till didn't even know where to begin in reading the seal and he could feel Ceru wiggling to get away outside.Retreating he found Ceru next to him with dried tears on her face.
"Are you okay little one?" Asked Till, worried the pain might have been too much.
"I'm fine. It just hurt a little bit." Said Ceru lying.
Till sighed knowing the child was lying. Hopping down he put her on his shoulders so they could go see Paul for some pain soothing.
