Flake explained their discovery to the rest while Till kept the ten year old busy and away from the discovery. Of course when you're a ten year old that has had a hard life one tends to be on guard and listen out for any trouble twenty four seven.
"Till... is the seal bad?" Asked Ceru.
The dragon sighed. He couldn't possibly lie to a child yet he didn't want the child to know the truth. Honesty got the better of him and he spilled.
"It is but only if certain bad people get their hands on you. If you steer clear of them then you'll be fine." Said Till.
Ceru felt the dragon wasn't telling her something but didn't push further as she got distracted by a passing birdie.
"Is there a way to get rid of it?" Asked Doom.
"Usually no but of course this enigma of a child has been destroying it from the inside. Her magic has been eroding the seal for years now and cracks are starting to appear." Said Flake.
"So it'll go away soon right?" Asked Paul, hopeful of the answer.
"Yes but she'll probably go into magic overload at least several more times before the seal breaks." Said Flake.
"But a human can't handle that many overloads!" Cried Olli.
"Can we draw it out like we did before?" Asked Doom.
"If we take in too much it'll have negative side effects on us as well." Said Flake.
"What are these effects?" Asked Doom.
"Well in simple terms we'll be like little children who have eaten at least five pound of sugar and drank several gallons of caffeine. Oh this "high" will last until we use the excess magic." Said Flake.
"Seriously Flake? That sounds awesome! I want to get high!" Said Paul excitedly.
"I doubt we'll see any difference in you Paul." Sighed Richard.
"You guys are fine with staying here?" Asked Till joining them with Ceru.
"Of course!" Reassured Paul.
"It is a tad cramped in here but I'll put up with it." Said Richard.
"We can always stay in our human forms that way we'll have all the room we want." Said Olli.
"Thanks guys." Said Till quietly.
"No problem big guy. We've been brothers since we were created and will still be for eternity." Said Doom.
"Uncle Paul is staying?" Asked Ceru.
Paul laughed and gave a high-five to Ceru which she returned a bit confused. While Richard gave an indignant squawk at the fact Paul was called uncle but not him.
"What about me kid?" Asked Richard.
Ceru hid behind Till and Paul and gave her answer from cover.
"Friend." Said Ceru pointing around to Richard, Doom, Olli, and Flake.
"Just you wait kid, I'll have you saying uncle Reesh in no time." Promised Richard.
The others laughed at Richard's childness and his unwillingness to lose to Paul.
