At the Edge of the Cliff

I met you at the edge of a cliff

Looking for something amiss

We were never meant to meet

But you were someone I wanted to keep

Your love was like the waves

Crashing on the shore, looking for its way

Your embrace was my home

And together, we belong

That's what I always thought

But suddenly you said, "there's something I need to seek"

We slowly grew apart yet held on to the friendship we had-

Not knowing we were both in love

We weren't scared to confess

Rather, we were more scared of hearing the answer

And so, our hearts waited-it kept waiting,

Until your heart went astray and your feelings faded

Your love was washed away by the waves

Finding its way in another

Your embrace no longer felt like home

And it's in someone else's arms you belong

I was back again at the edge of the cliff

Still living in the past we've created,

We never should have met

For these feelings I have shouldn't be kept

A/N: I wrote this poem two years ago for my friend

I may not be affected directly but I consider my friends' losses as mine. I feel their heartbreaks as if they're my own. Therefore, I added this piece to this collection.

I know a lot of you can relate to this poem because ghosting is becoming pretty common, especially now, since we're under quarantine. I'm not a fan of relationships and commitments but I sure know how it feels to be deceived with false hopes, and eventually, I get heartbroken in the end.So if you have someone you used to love that had already found themselves in another person's company then this poem is for you.
