Life would never be the same
For your absence left me maimed;
You, who conquered the world
Couldn't even say her last words
No matter how strong you were
Death could not be deterred;
The only solace in my pain
Is that you were freed from the chains
A virus that took thousands of lives—
Were like shackles that come with sharpened knives
These knives severed our fate
And I will forever linger in this mournful state
As stifling and miserable as it was—
To isolate ourselves in the house
Out of the sun's radiant touch
The pain of losing you could not be matched
I remained in the gray for almost an eternity
And I lost a part of me when you left wordlessly
But you would not want me to live in despair
And by your name, I will willingly swear
I will live my life without regrets
Not to impress but to express
Set my goal to achieving joy
And to not treat myself as a lifeless toy
I gained strength from those who stayed, and you, who departed
And I will continue the kindness you started;
It matters not if you are a million miles away
For I know the knives cannot hurt you anymore from where you stay
The dark days ahead will hopefully soon cease
And the torment I held on to will soon be released
We will always keep the memories of the deceased alive
Until the day we meet again finally arrives
