"Flowers for you, Miss Shen Chao Xing."
"Oh wow red roses, those are really pretty!" Exclaims Yue excitedly.
"Yes they are. Secret admirer?" Asks Jia.
Chao Xing rolls her eyes and accepts the bouquet of flowers from the delivery boy.
"How does he know I work here now?"
"How does who know?" Replies Yue acting clueless, causing Jia to giggle.
"Trying to play games with me Yue?" Remarks Chao Xing, squinting her eyes at her. "You know very well who they are from!"
"Well, maybe he came to the Hong Kong Hotel one dayand saw you waiting a table? Also he works with He Di so maybe it came up casually in conversation?" Says Yue, doing her best to look innocent.
"Casually came up in conversation?"
"Yes." Yue bends her head to sip her tea.
"What's the big deal if this man wishes to spend his money on you Chao Xing?" Asks Jia."He's young and handsome and seems to really like you?"
"I....you know what, I should go and check on my other tables, my superior is sitting right in front of me!"
Chao Xing walks off, leaving Jia shrugging at Yue. The two ladies are having lunch at the restaurant Xi Ze cooks in at the Hong Kong Hotel. Jia's hostess shift only starts in the evening, so she and Yue are spending some quality time together with Yuèqín sleeping in the stroller.
It has been two months since Chao Xing came to Hong Kong. She stayed with Yue and He Di for a month and then moved out to her own little place in an apartment building in town. Yue managed to persuade Jia to help set Chao Xing up with a job. Jia was reluctant at first, recalling the old Chao Xing, but decided to give her a trial period and was pleasantly surprised to find out that she is the hardest working waitress they have.
"So why do you think she is ignoring this guy? From what you and He Di have told me, he seems really great." Asks Jia.
"I don't know. Maybe she is not over the whole John situation?"
"She got over her first fiancé pretty quickly though?"
"I guess it was different this time. Maybe she loved John more?"
"Why? Didn't she know he was married? Surely she knew that it was never going to last?"
Yue is quiet for a little bit. She has not told Jia all the other painful details of Chao Xing's relationship with John.
"Honestly Wang Yu Zheng is quite a catch." Jia continues. "She should forget about that guy!"
