Eleonora PoV:
Bang.
I shoot out of my bed, frantically looking around. My eyes land on my clock. 2:15 am. I quietly stand up and walk towards my door, slowly opening it to investigate the loud noise that ripped me out of my perfect little dreamland.
A dim light is coming from the end of the hallway, making my surroundings along with the moonlight slightly visible. I hear voices I don't recognize and my heartbeat quickens.
The worst scenarios play out in my mind. From the TV's volume being to high to intruders to kidnappers, everything is involved.
I slowly and as quiet as possible begin to turn around to get back into the safety my bed offers my but suddenly halt my movements.
I'm not alone in this house. My mother is supposed to be sleeping in a room at the end of the hallway. The same room the voices are coming from.
Without thinking I push the door open a little farther and cringe at the creaking sound my door makes. The voices quieten down and my heart stops.
This is it.
Seeing the door open at the end of the hallway, I quickly close my door but it is to late. Whoever is in this house has already seen and most likely heard me.
I hear footsteps approaching my door and look around my room for a spot to hide. But my room offers no spots to hide.
The footsteps stop in front of my door and the door handle gets slowly pushed down.
This is it.
The door gets thrown open making a loud noise when the door handle hits my wall.
Even though I should be scared, the loud noise makes a little relief flood through my body. My mother definitely heard it and will come to save me.
The strangers approach me with large steps and I back away until my back hits the wall. Suddenly I'm surrounded by three men who are at least in their late thirties. All taller and definitely stronger than me.
With no obvious way out I look down and see a gun in the hand from the guy opposite of me. If my heart didn't stop beating already, it definitely stopped now.
I'm trapped in my room, my back flat against the wall with three unknown men surrounding me and my mother nowhere in sight.
"Look who we found, boys. The boss will be very happy tonight," the one in front of me says with a disgusting smirk on his face that makes shivers run down my body.
"W-what do you want from me? Where is my mom?" I ask him, trying to at least sound confident but my voice betrayed me. Just like my posture.
"Oh, I'm afraid mommy dearest isn't with us anymore," he replies snickering along with the two other men.
"What do you me-" I start but abruptly stop. The noise that woke me up. It was a gunshot.
Tears formed in my eyes, wanting to spill over. They killed my mother. The only family I had.
"W-why did you s-shoot her? W-who a-are you? W-why are you h-here?"
"It does not matter who we are. We are just here to finish a job." The one to my right said.
"A j-job? What j- job?" I question.
"We're here to kill your mother and you." The man on my left said, the same sick smirk on his face as the other two.
My body stiffened and time seemed to stop. They have come to kill me and my mother. They already killed my mother. They are going to kill me now.
My face visibly paled and sweat beads started to form on my forehead along with my palms suddenly being very sweaty and a shiver runs through my whole body.
Black dots start to appear in my vision as the guy in front of me raises his gun, pointing it directly at my head. So close that the barrel almost touches my forehead.
My whole body is shaking in fear. Frantically I look around but nothing can help me.
This is it.
I can see the smirk on his face as he puts his finger on the triggger. I close my eyes and wait for him to pull the trigger but he does not do it.
Instead I hear the front door opening and footsteps. One of my neighbors probably called the police, effectively saving my life in the last moment.
The men in front of me becomes angry and signals the two on either side of me to climb out of the window to escape the house unnoticed.
They immediately open my window to start their journey out of my house. As soon as the first one is outside the man in front of me turns his eyes back to me.
With the gun still in his head, now pressed against my head he leans down to whisper in my ear: "this is not the last time we are meeting each other, eleonora. Next time, you will not be so lucky and instead share the same fate as your mother."
The pure venom in his voice sends another shiver down my body and the room begins to spin.
"Until next time, Eleonora Smith." He said with a satisfied, evil smirk on his face and climbs out of the window.
A second later the police comes into my room and suddenly the world turns black and I fall.
