Chapter 22: Reality Sets In

Marinette and Luka stopped in front of her bakery. Marinette jumped off the bicycle and took off the helmet she had been given earlier.

"Thank you! Would you like anything? My treat."

Luka looked off to the side. "Actually, I was wondering if I could have your-"

Before he could finish, Cat Noir yelled from the roof. "There you are!" He jumped down next to Marinette and grabbed her by the shoulders. "Why did you take off like that? I thought someone took you!"

"I'm sorry. I needed to get Tikki something to eat. I had Luka help me get here. I'm perfectly fine, I swear."

Cat Noir had a confused expression on his face when he heard another guy's name. "Luka?" He then turned to the person who he hadn't noticed before. "Oh, sorry. I didn't see you there. You're Luka, I presume?" He extended his hand to shake hands.

"That's right." Luka shook Adrien's hand.

A red car then pulled up. "Oh good! You found her!" Kagami said as she climbed out of the car.

Marinette recognized the fencing uniform she was wearing and made the connection to who Cat Noir was battling earlier. "You're the one that challenged Adrien."

"No wonder you two are together. You both make the most obvious statements."

Luka looked down at the ground. He didn't know they were together.

"I'm Kagami by the way." Kagami waved awkwardly at the two she hadn't met yet.

Marinette and Luka waved slightly in return and said their names.

Marinette then turned to Luka. "What were you saying earlier? I have to repay you for giving me a ride here."

Luka blushed slightly. "I was wondering if I could have one of your parents' macaroons. I heard that they are the best in all of Paris." He laughed nervously.

Marinette smiled sweetly. "Of course. Would anyone else like anything?"

"No thank you," Kagami replied.

"Plagg, would probably want any cheese based thing you have in there. I want one of those pies your mom made that one time!" Cat Noir got excited about having something from the Dupain-Cheng bakery again.

Marinette giggled. "Okay then. Coming right up." Marinette went inside and left everyone else outside.

Lila and Hawkmoth stood on the roof of the school that was right across the street from the bakery.

"Looks like now is a good time to strike. When their guard is low and their kwamis aren't rested. Agreed?" Hawkmoth smirked as he talked to Lila.

"The most perfect time. Let's do this." Lila reveled the fake fox pendant she had on and waited for Hawkmoth.

He created an akuma that flew into the pendant and transformed Lila into Volpina. She then blew into her flute and aimed at the court in the school.

Marinette then came out of the bakery and handed everyone their respected treats. Just as they were about to eat them, they heard the doors of the school burst open.

Every akumatized villain that they had fought before cane running out and charging after them.

"Cat Noir! Get Luka out of here!"
