"elean, please open up. it's me, maddy." i take a deep breath as the knocks on the door louden.

"i know you're in there, baby. please, just let me explain everything." i shake my head and chew on my nails.

i can't face her.

she lied to me, what else can i do besides look at her completely different, huh?

i was about to smile a bit once the knocks stopped but quietly groan as the knocks continue.

"might as well let her in." i say as i harshly walk to the door, opening it to find a slouched maddy.

"oh my god elena! thank yo-"

"don't think i did this to hear more lies." i said as i walked away, hearing footsteps follow me.

"please, elena. i know i'm probably the least person you wanna see right now, but i need to explain everything." she exhales as i sit down ontop of the counter.

"fine then, explain. just know i won't forgive you easily, maddy." i mutter the last part.

"thank you. ok well, i assume you know part of the story. dally is my cousin, sadly. um, the reason why i hated him, and still do, is because of what he did to you. i mean, he hurt my bestfriend, how could i not hate his guts. plus, i partially blame him for turning bryce into the asshole he is." maddy breaths out as i scoff and jump off the counter.

"don't blame him for the shit your brother has done to me, maddy. dallas did not abuse me. don't confuse words." i glare at her as her eyes soften in realization.

"oh i didn't mean it like that! it's just .... bryce used to be the good guy of the story, and i miss that." she shrugs her shoulders as i look up.

"bryce, a good guy? kinda something not to believe." i bitterly laugh as i fill a glass with water.

"he actually was a good person. he used to bring me flowers, didn't yell at me, we did so much shit together, believe it or not. but all that innocence went away, all innocence goes away in new york." maddy says as she wipes a tear away from her cheek.

"maddy, don't cry. i hate it when i see you cry." i hug her and rub her head as she quietly sobs into the crook of my neck.

"the bryce i knew years ago is dead. the new bryce is someone who's hurt so much people in his life."

a knock on the door interrupts the moment.

"i'll um-let me go check who it is." i awkwardly smile as i run to the door, opening it revealing two bit.

"oh um, hello two-bit. what brings you here?" i ask as i widen the door, revealing him carrying a beaten up dally.

i gasp as i let them come inside. maddy stiffens as she sees dally enter.

"what happened!?" i ask as i signal maddy to get the first aid kit. two bit drags him to the bathroom and stressfully sets him on the toilet.

"he was jumped."

"no way. dally is the one that jumps. he doesn't get jumped." i laugh as i get the first aid kit and take everything out.

"he said he was distracted." i look up and see two lean against the doorframe.

"whatever. just, close the door and let me clean his ass up." two nods and closes the door, leaving me alone with dally.

i slowly and painfully patch him up, him wincing at the strong alcohol.

"w-what distracted you, dallas?" i softly ask as i lean against the wall. dally shakes his head and looks up.

"ya really wanna know?" i nod, a little too quickly.

"you. you distracted me."
