Gavin made good on taking Tina out to dinner. About a month after he had the thought, he called her up one Friday night, about five or six pm.
"Hey, T, what's the haps?"
"Gav, we've talked about your atrocious slang."
"Yeah, but I do it to annoy you and you specifically."
"Shut up."
"I love you, Tiiiiiiiiina."
"I love you too, idiot." Gavin could hear her roll her eyes. "So what's up?"
"Do you want to go out with me tonight?"
"Yeah, absolutely! We haven't gone on a date on forever!!" Tina replied. "No babe, not an actual date. We go out to dinner and then grab drinks. It's an old tradition." Her voice was muffled and distant as if her hand was covering the mic.
"Is that Elena you're talking to?" Gavin questioned, playfulness creeping into his voice. "I didn't know you guys had already moved in together!"
"We're lesbians, Gavin, " she deadpanned. Gavin laughed.
"Get all dolled up for me tonight, dear. I'll pick you up at 6:30, alright? Is that enough time for you to do your makeup?"
"I swear to God-" there was a bout of annoyed muttering. "Yeah, yeah. I'll be ready."
"See ya then!"
"I'm looking forward to it. Bye, kid!"
"Bye." Gavin hung up. "Ya boy's got himself a date!" He yelled at Conan. The cat blinked. "I should get ready."
Gavin dug around in his closet for a bit, looking for something remotely formal to wear. He found his suit in the back of his closet and froze for a moment. It was still spattered with Conan's thirium. Gavin took the suit jacket from the hanger and pressed his face to it. The thirium reeked. Gavin dropped it.
He settled on a disgustingly patterned button-up shirt that he probably stole from Hank and a pair of fitted dress pants. Tina was going to be absolutely disgusted to be seen in public with him, and Gavin was going to relish every moment of it.
Hair time.
He ran a brush through his hair, yanking through all of the tangles. He hadn't brushed his hair in almost four months. He moved to slick it back but paused. First the suit, now the slick- it was almost too much.
Gavin wet his hair, deciding to just do whatever with it. He was going all-out to embarrass Tina anyway. He checked the time.
Shit. He was going to be late if he didn't leave almost immediately. He slipped on his ridiculous dad sandals and white socks and departed.
Two swift knocks to her door let Tina know Gavin had arrived. She didn't answer, though.
"Gavin," Elena said curtly.
"Elena, " he replied with a bow.
"Come in." He entered their home and sat down, playing into the awkward high school boyfriend character.
"So, son. What are your intentions with my girlfriend," She asked sternly, pressing a smile?
"I just want to take her out on the town and show her a good time, ma'am," he replied meekly.
"No funny business, you hear me, young man?"
"Of course not. I respect Tina with my entire heart."
"Good, " Elena glared, making eye contact with Gavin. Then, the pair erupted into laughter.
Tina walked out into the living room, a concerned look on her face.
