"Y/N!" Angie is tapping my shoulder, bringing me back to reality.
"What?" I mutter as I break my trance from the beautiful girl across the bookstore.
"You were staring at her for like 2 minutes."
"Oh....sorry I was just thinking." I hope that's enough to shut her up.
"Yeah, thinking about kissing her." Angie says while smirking. She makes kissing noises while making a heart with her hands.
"ANGIE, shut up!" I try to look at anything else except for the girl across the store, hoping Angie will just drop it.
"Come on you totally like her! Just ask her out." Angie pushes me towards her direction
"No, I bet she isn't even gay." I look away from her, knowing I can't fall for a straight girl again.
"At least introduce yourself to her" She pushes me towards her again. I have a feeling she won't take no for an answer."The only reason I'm doing this is to shut you up" I say.
"Sure it is." Angie smiles widely as she waits for me to go.
"I hate you." I say as I finally start walking, still trying to convince myself that I don't like her.I walk across the store, and my heart flutters when I think about talking to her. My gaze fixes on the beautiful brown eyed girl in front of me. Just walking closer to her, I can already see more of her perfect features. She's the prettiest girl I've ever seen. She's wearing a baby blue sweatshirt that says "Sad Girls Club", ripped jeans, and a white hat that she's wearing backwards. I finally make my way over to her and I get butterflies when her eyes meet mine.
Come on y/n, get it together. Do not blow this for yourself.
"Hi, I'm y/n" I say hoping she can't sense my nervousness. She smiles widely at me and I can't help but smile back.
"Hi, y/n, I'm Lauren.""Lauren." I repeat to myself while blushing.
I quickly realize I don't have anything planned to say to her. My mind is racing with thoughts about what to say, but before I can speak she says something."So what kind of book are you looking for?"
Her voice is so soothing I could listen to it all day long.
"Oh um, uh, I was just looking for a cook book!"A cook book? Really, y/n? You haven't cooked since you almost burnt down your kitchen last year.
"Oh cool, you can cook?" Lauren says while pulling a stray hair back behind her ear.
I try to respond, but I can't stop staring into her deep brown eyes. It feels like we're the only people in the world.
Somehow I remove my gaze from hers and form an answer.
"Uh, no not really but I've been wanting to learn.""Well, I can help you if you want. I can make a mean chicken nugget with bean salad!"
Oh my gosh did she seriously just ask to help me? Ok, play it cool, don't ruin it.
"Oh, uh, sure that would be fun."
We both smile at each other and somehow, I fall more in love.
"So-"
I get cut off by her phone ringing. She holds up a finger and says she just needs a second.
"Yes, Christina, I'll be back soon I just got caught up at the book store. Yes I'll leave right now chill, sis."
She walks back over while my body betrays me and I get butterflies again.
"Sorry I gotta go, my sister needs me back."Now is my time. Ask for her number, y/n.
"Oh, do you want me to give you my number?" My heartbeat speeds up as I wait for her response.
"You can teach me to cook those famous chicken nuggets you told me about."She laughs at my joke and I realize even her laugh is perfect. I could listen to it forever.
"Sure" She says and hands me her phone to put my number in.
What should I call myself? Should I add any emojis or would it be too weird? Ugh, come on y/n she'll wonder what's taking so long.
I think I'll just put: y/n🙂
It definitely says "friend" and not "I wanna marry you", right?I hand her back her phone and for a brief moment, our hands touch. Her hand felt so warm against mine.
She takes her phone back and waves goodbye to me.
"I'll text you!" She says while walking out the door.Well, I guess she'll text me.
Let me know if you guys liked this! I liked writing it so hopefully you'll want me to make more parts!! Stay safe!
